To YANKTRUCKERINUK, You said in your previous post that you didnt here a good word said about H&R while you were working in US, I presume they are also based there then (I know they run through to the States) because my original post was regarding H&R in CANADA not the US. I already know its difficult to move to the States but that wasnt what my post was about. I dont want to live/work in the US, its Canada Im interested in.
Anybody with any info regarding any decent firms in Canada worth applying to would be gratefully received.
Sorry this message was ment for “BIG TRUCK” not who orginally replied to my post Yanktruckerinuk. Your obviously getting confused pal, like I said its Canada not the USA, thanks for your words of wisdom, I will take them on board. lol
no worries mate i know you meant that H&R are based in canada, they did or still have a terminal in seattle washington and another one in california, anyways i know they used to run from canada to cali all the time and everysingle driver i ever meet from them hated it driving for them, anyways good luck in finding a good company in canada, i remember one good trucking company call DFS from canada they have big green KW T200 models, check them out they do pay good money
I saw one of those Design trucks in Chicago today, a blue ProStar.
i do miss them guys, they are a good company to work for, by the way i just passed the theory and hazzard test yesterday so i’m one step closer to getting me licence woop woop
Obviously wheelnut is anti american, so don’t listen to him. Backward country eh? Have you seen the uk lately? I am off to Canada in new year and have 2 friends out there and both find it good, but work has been very slow. It’s just picking up. Have heard bad things about big freight, not just on here. H&r trans have a problem keeping drivers but have heard not too bad. Me am going to be working for seimens transport, saskatoon, and have been told by my 2 friends in canada who work for them that they are pretty good. But as anything in life, one mans hell is anothers joy.
I got a train from Montreal/Toronto to Vancouver, bloody brill, all that scenery.Saw the remains of a large train(freight) crash, like a mile of debris and twisted cargo boxes up in the mountains. No where to sleep(travelled economy)so slept in the double decked tourist coach on the train.
Driver was delayed, and they went very fast across the flat plains at night.Dining was the best.
Timed the train arrival to coincide with a budget airline flight from Vancouver to Montreal to meet my Algerian pen pal i met in Morroco, her and i were booked on Greyhound overnight buses to the east coats of the USA.
A lady passenger on the flight back was late, and the air crew would not take off,as they passenger count did not match with the manifest.Terrorist law,as someone could have left baggage on board.
I was angry with her for holding the plane up,and could see all my detailed plans and expense fading away, and let my pen pal down with her bookings etc. However it turned out ok.I should have allowed more time for delays, but was too tight to pay for a hotel, and timings of matching trips.
hi lads siemens transport are looking for drivers i have read a few posts about big frieght/ H&R i havent being able to find anything about siemens transport if anyone could piont me to link or has any experience working for them i would like to hear from them.
thanks for the reply jon i applied for a job with them sometime ago and they asked me to go over for an interview i know they have different operating companies i was just looking for some feedback on what the companies under the siemans umberella were like to work for.
as for the crowd your working for all i can say is you landed on your feet by getting a job with them i worked for them for about 8 years great company
They sure are Im currently sat using the lunch room PC at the Calgary Ramp, waiting to be loaded with a full load fresh off the plane, destined for Edmonton.
Only problem is I forgot my ipod so im stuck with cheesy local radio that keeps losing signal every 50 kms and i need to retune to a new station lol. Oh and add the fact im suffering with a bad cold atm, and all t hat goes with having a cold. Ive devoured half a packet of strepsils already today.
One thing to bear in mind at any of the companies under the Siemens umbrella is that you will be driving a an old shed, not that it’s a major reason for coming here, but we all like to drive nice trucks, if you’re dreaming of a big shiny Peterbilt then you’re in for a shock. They appear to run old tatty equipment, I’ve never seen one broken down though, unlike BFS! I spoke to a couple of lads on there in Saskatoon while my broken down BFS truck was being fixed, well fixed well enough to get to the next KW shop anyway anyway, they seemed happy enough. When I first looked at coming to Canada I rang Siemens, spoke to some bird called Bobbie Jo? I never receieved the stuff they were supposed to be sending so gave up on them, I’m glad I did really as Saskatoon is not my cup of tea, but each to his own.

That would be Connie Jo!!! I had an interview arranged with them when I came on a research trip, Connie Jo didn’t even have the courtesy to turn up on the pre arranged date and time so I left without having seen anyone
how much driving experience do you need i have back to back courses booked for january and a job driving class 1 for a big company friend of the family lucky i know but just a stepping stone to get to canada as once i have a clear idea i can plan a visit. we all love skiing so wher would be a good place for a young family ie reasonable priced houses schools and within a couple of hours from slopes would be good thankyou for any help. we would consider most places.
and wife is a canadian qualified ski instructor already
Well Manitoba is good for cheap living costs & plenty of work, not a mountain in sight though so Calgary area is your best bet, no cheap houses there though, the cost of living is the same as England more or less & there are not as many transport firms up there either.
Wheel Nut:
It is more to do with a backward country who still use capital punishment, threats of physical violence to its poorer citizens and where they cannot spell properly.
Even in the transport world, they are primitive, it was not so long ago that truck brakes were an optional extra on the front axle.
You wait, there will soon be some confederate relative trying to tell us that they have landed on the moon

I was joking about the rednecks. I didn’t actually think I would come across one.
