Can you pass driving tests form first time

now to many people who have class 2 licence long ,long time and have long expirience try pass for class 1 and some drivers fail 2-3 or more time just because forget swith on side indicators,or don t check mirrors and for to many different minor mistakes.
but mainly class 1 drivers call self -I am professional drivers,i understand everythink and much more.but example if DVLA make new rules -all drivers must pass again driving tests.ARE YOU SURE WHO YOU PASS IN FIRST TIME.Who you in driving test don t forget swith on side indicator (when you turn right at roundabount)and you do everything correctly without serius mistakes

If anyone is struggling to understand, may I recommend two cans of Stella, became crystal clear then
I think my only comment is that it was stressful enough passing the test the first time around, and I don’t really want to think about doing it again!
I guess we should spare a thought for the driving instructors as I believe that every few years (is it 4?) they have to do the test again and are allowed far fewer minor faults. Think it’s 6?

Thanks for clearing that up was wondering what i needed to make sense of this now wheres the stella

Dont forget, heineken refreshes the parts other beers cannot reach.

Translation:

Many people who take their Class 1 after many years as a class 2 driver fail, sometimes several times, for minor errors like not indicating or checking their mirrors.

If the DVLA made a new rule that all drivers had to retake their tests, are you sure that YOU would pass first time?

Not required for HGV instructors unless they’re on the DSA list, which isn’t compulsory.

Instructors have to be able to demonstrate to trainees from time to time so in a way that is an informal test of their abilities to DSA standard

Never mind driving tests
If I lived in Poland and earned good money there as a HGV driver
I would make every effort to learn the language
So if I posted a message on a Polish drivers forum
People would understand what I was saying

Hi guys
As an ADI, I can confirm no re-tests are needed unless you let your ticket lapse. Then it’s the whole works.
We get a routine check every two years as a minimum called a “check test”. If you don’t meet the standard, you get another check test, if you dip out on that one, back on probation until you pass.
In answer to the original post, I think I could pass all my tests again, might need a refresher for the motorbike though…
Cheers
Paul

After 3 cans of Stella now (no I’m NOT driving tomorrow before anyone asks) I’m in a diplomatic mood, so leaving Anglo/Polish relations to other threads and dragging this one back on topic a little…
What I passed class 2, I was advised to do class 1 asap because I’d lose the acting ability required to pass a DSA test the longer I drove in the real world. (or being cynical the instructor might have liked the idea of further work in the near future!)
That said, I’m sure someone doing it after many years driving class 2 would still do fine but maybe require more training to get back into the ‘act’, if I can call it that.

It may refresh the OTHER parts but it certainly MISSES the getting you happy part, as least for me! Once had a tenner in my pocket for night out (a pint was about £1.60 then!) and Heineken was slightly cheaper. A tenner later and my mates said I was more sober than when I started out!

I ask this question just for intere.i was talking with to many, many drivers, who drive lorry 10-20 years and heard answer from to many drivers-who he drive this 10+years ,never had accident,no point in licence but they talk if today him need pass tests again he not sure pass or not.!we can see as well when some company give for drivers with 10 years expirience driving assetment and time from time people fail.

yes of course, i would ■■■■ it.

piece of cake ,after all ,i am the best driver in the world …ever :sunglasses:

We can put this theory to the test I’ve been driving class 2 since 2007 and will be taking my class one at the end of the month :open_mouth:

There can be quite a difference between driving to the DSA style and driving to what is a safe (advanced) driving style which is the style that most LGV drivers drive to

Interesting topic especially as I worked as a driver for about 20 years and an Instructor for nearly another 20.
I have sat many tests throughout the years and have always passed first time but that is not because I cannot fail but the fact that there is always a certain amount of luck in any driving test.
I have also completed an Examiner’s course but never worked as one as for me there was no appeal.
A lot of drivers blame themselves for not passing a test but I can tell you from experience that unless you have a good Instructor you may not pass.I know many drivers that have been given wrong info or not been told important aspects of the test resulting in them not passing.
Of course nerves can play a big part in any test and sometimes they are very hard to control but again a decent Instructor should be able to ease them.
The other thing that always amazed me is the fact that Examiners when they are trained especially if they are already Instructors have to lower there standards somewhat and accept mistakes that would make the average person think they had not passed.
It really made me wonder how anyone can not pass the test.Of course things may have changed slightly as I have been out of training for since 07 spending my last 5 years driving.
Regarding a Class 2 driver going for a Class 1 that should not be any problem if you have a decent Instructor. The driver already has experience driving larger vehicles and has already passed an LGV test so knows what to expect so they only need to adapt to the extra length, get used to the trailer cut in and master the reverse.Piece of cake.
In the early nineties we used to have car drivers coming to do their Class 1 and we had to take them for an assessment drive to ascertain how many days training they would require. Now that could be quite scary at times!

Really didn’t understand that at all , but what I gather from the other replies…

I drove class 2 for 10 years then didn’t drive for 4 , the took my class 1 passed first time with 1 minor fault , things are different when your paying for it your self …

Just because you’ve been driving a wile does it mean your standards drop ie not signalling or looking in the mirrors …

At apropriate times … and that is where the DSA and safe driving can differ greatly in their styles

You drivers and instructor with long expirience.when for people was more easy pass tests??now or 20 years ago??
What mistakes must be counted not for serius but just for minor??
what can improve ,changes in tests??
