Can expensive low tech be trusted?

Anyone for a Tesla?

To be honest I didn’t realise Teslas relied solely on cameras for auto-drive, I just assumed they relied heavily on sensors as well as the cameras, it’s disturbing that a car manufacturer can get away with relying on this sort of second rate technology for something that’s so vital :frowning:

it’s a teeny bit unfair on testing the electrified plastic vomit buckets like that, no matter how much we hate the muskite. Hopefully in daylight none of us would be fooled like that, but in poor visibility, who is perfect? Like when the grey of the road merges with the sky.

However, the alternative sensor technewlogy - LiDARS ain’t yet proven to be safe at all. They use a frequency just above visible light which some scientists fear could be more damaging to eyesight, like how ultraviolet is. So when the roads are filled with all these new self driving cars all blasting out this radiation, before we know it, we could all end up with cataracts, not a great idea for truck drivers…

There wont be any truck drivers.
