I am not familiar with the laws of the land regarding o’licences etc.
I have a camper - gross max weight of camper is 5.6tons - can tow a trailer of 5 tons it says to the plating (but my understanding that my towing set up can go to 3500kg braked or 750kg unbraked on a towball) anyway
Camper is around 5tons I suppose fully geared up - if I wish to tow a trailer (below the 750kg) to car boots to sell my crap or do a bit of buying and selling for a few bob - how does it stand with the powers?
Points to note - camper is a ex 22 seater bus, now classed as camper on V5 taxed as PGV - as it was ex psv it still has a working tacho head - but not required or used when I use as a camper (already checked this out - just used as a speedo)
Do I need to worry about o’licenses or tachos?
Thanks

You will need a goods vehicle operator’s licence if you use a goods vehicle of over 3.5 tonnes gross plated weight or (where there is no plated weight) an unladen weight of more than 1,525kg to transport goods for hire or reward or in connection with a trade or business.
I can’t see any exemptions for you in the drivers hours regs either.
Good thing I checked - thanks Mike
Do you just have the pre 1997 driving licence
Does the 750 kg trailer have a weight plate on it If yes what does it state
If the trailer is over 750 kg plated MAM then it must have over-run brakes - if over 3500 kg plated MAM it must have something like air brakes
Car boots to sell your own stuff is done by hundreds of people with their won vehicles and do not need O licences but to buy in goods and resell them will make that a commercial enterprise and can come under O licence regs
To use a vehicle where the total of the plated weights adds up to between 3501 to 7500 will be exempt tacho if used privately but if used commercially then it will be needed along with all the rules that come with it

Sorry to drag it up Rog I didn’t see your reply - the trailer is an old orse box chopped down to make a little trailer so doesn’t have a plate on it as far as I know - easily drag it with the car but with weight on it the car will struggle hence why I thought about the camper. When I meant buying and selling I meant along the lines of selling my/family bits and what ever I buy I transport it back - personal use not for commercial at all
As its personal selling its all okay.
