I was driving on the A34 near Oxford earlier and I seen a police car with a camera connected to it. The camera was a small round white one and was placed a few yards away from the vehicle facing incoming traffic. Does anyone know what this is? Is it speed or ANPR■■?
nether , it is designed to find out who is driving in heels and pink underwear ,
seriously , there are that many different ones , if you were speeding , tough

My guess would be that it was measuring speed. Don’t driver vehicle and licencing authority normally set up ANPR camera’s for tax / mot?
I would be fairly certain it was ANPR. (Checking…mot, insurance and vehicles with a ‘marker’ on them)
Small white approximately 2 - 2 1/2 feet high on a tripod cop car in a normal lay-by sounds like anpr for catching those without tax and test and other markers such as drugs
Most big plod cars are fitted with ANPR now anyway, why they would want a remote camera I don’t know because they have many ways to catch speeders also.
Probably checking seat belts and phone use as well.
I often see a silver estate car in a layby with a little camera on a tripod. The car is either labelled as DVLA tax check or there is a sign saying so. Can’t remember which.
saw one in the drivers side rear of a normal panda just lodged in the open window on the A92 in dundee last week thought it was some sort of longlens camera at first
wouldnt of caught any one speeding being positioned 50 ft from a set of very busy lights in full view so suspect it may be ANPR related
