Calais protests September the 5th

Calais residents transport company’s and farmers are protesting on Monday in Calais against the state of the area due to immigrants

Screen dumped from face ache…

Typical, I’m off there Monday for a motorbike holiday. Hopefully shouldn’t screw things up too much as I’ll be able to dart in and out of any hold ups and also use smaller roads.
But I do understand that something needs to be done about Calais, the town is ruined now and it can’t carry on.
They’re mostly economic migrants as they’re already in a safe country, so the French should make them claim asylum in France and if they refuse then arrest them as illegal entrants and return them to where they came from.

I wish them all the luck in trying to get the French government to do something about Calais, but I think the French Government will view a protest in Calais with the same concern as our government would view a protest in Hull. :frowning:

I’m sure we have heard the French say this before, http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/09/02/jungle-calais-demolished-french-interior-minister/

With Presidential Elections in France early next year, we might see some dabbling at the edges of the camp, to try and win votes, but I doubt it will be totally bulldozed.

I quite liked the placard which said “Don’t let the Mob Win” not sure if the irony was lost on the holder though, while he was standing in the middle of a protest trying to get decision made through a democratic process overturned.
