Cab Interiors

SISU SM (last version whit own cab ) from middle of 90,s

Tankerman:
One more for you to guess at John.

You’re right Ramone.
A Mk 1 Marathon which I got new early 1974, one of the first few and maintained by Leyland fitters.
Only difference to the brochure was mine didn’t have a tacho fitted until they were made law.
Shell didn’t want them or should I say the Shell shop stewards didn’t want them.

The old cab is a Morris Commercial.

and what is this below.

Marathon mk1 ?

The second one with the wooden floor and open air side window, would this,by any chance, be a shot of the last motor “H” drove ? Cheers Dennis.

He may have done Dennis but he certainly left it clean.
I can just imagine his big daft clogs on the delicate pedals.

But “H” was a maestro, light touch driver, floats like a butterfly stings like a bee ( well he’d certainly sting you if you were in a boozer with him!!) and he always had rubber caulkers on his clogs so they wouldn’t leave a mark on the burnished woodwork ! Cheers Dennis.

I will await his reply Dennis,
He still remembers me trying to run him over in my Highwayman so he will surely remember driving the old Morris Commercial.

I think somebody has cleaned it up since he last used it.

He never mentioned the time he was a stoker on a steam waggon though.

hej benkku! whats the spoon for ? and they look like a lot of discarded Tacho cards !! Obviously there is No restriction on driving hours on your Island, why should there be when the island is only 800 mtrs round the perimeter!! sorry benkku, only having a joke!!!I am very jealous of the lake at the bottom of your garden, what kind of fish do you catch for breakfast?? Cheers Dennis.

in fact dennis we don,t need the tacho in wintersevice and when only drive on the island it,s enougt whit a worktime book,so in this motor there is no much need for tacho.the spoon is a difficult question, don,t use sugar in coffee       .in the lake swims som perch, pike and pike-perch and even there are some crayfish it,s a innerlake, funny isn,t it    cheers benkku

I have never seen a pike-perch although i have heard of them, do you have any photos?

this one ,very god fish tastes lovely any way done, and specyaly as smoked, cheers benkku

I am just sorry i never got the chance to taste one, my mum used to keep a pub for a long time and the back garden used to run down to the river Gt.Ouse where we had fishing boats that we used to hire out for fishing in the season and i was a keen fisherman myself back then , but never caught a pike-perch , the river was tidal until about 2 miles past our pub and we would get all sorts of odd fish and creatures getting lost, we had several sea trout and seals quite often, once got really excited when i was about 10 yr old and went running down to the river as i thought another seal had come up and got a boat out only to discover it was a dead body - a suicide that had come down river for 10 miles and had been in the water for 2 months - not a pretty site!

Likewise Bill, Yes time in short supply there with so much to look at and reminisce about.
This was a familiar workplace for me for several years, a Guy big j with the early (not big cam)14ltr 290 ■■■■■■■■ built for BRS in 1974 this wolf in sheeps clothing would take many a Volvo or Scania driver by suprise loaded with 21t of steel !
At 4-5mpg and a top speed of 80mph+ they were definitely not a gaffers motor

gazzer:

gazzer:
It’s right hand drive but it’s not British, not even a British Dependency or Commonwealth origin. So where do you think it is from and what make?

Well there was one correct answer: A Spanish Pegaso. It does say it twice in the foto but you have to look hard. I’ve asked about but no answer given as to why it was a right hand drive, unless someone else knows.

Sorry about the late reply Gazzer but a lot of European trucks of that era (Fiat, Alfa Romeo etc) were fitted with right hand drive so that the driver could see the edges on mountain roads, makes sense really.

Pete.

I rode in “6 Legs” many a time - this was taken in 1986 when sadly she was dead and ready for the oxy torch.

I also rode in LVs from the late 60s / early 70s. I seem to remember the indicators were huge black Lucas switches that were up near the sun visor!
