Cab Happy Kid borrows truck ...... Goodbye Truck :-(

Yesterday afternoon (Friday 3rd) I got back in the depot and was filling the tank when ‘Cab Happy’ pulled in driving, not his black frieghtliner but one of the Volvo’s, he walked over to me complaining that the thing wouldn’t go over 75 mph and did onlu 4.9 to the gallon (he is an idiot). Cab Happy then informs me that his newly aquired Volvo will be in the shop next day and as he is working Saturday he is taking my truck :exclamation:
My reply … “NO YOU (zb)’ Ain’t”
“I am ! it’s all arranged with the boss” I looked toward the office to see said ‘Boss’ driving off at high speed.
“I get out of this cab when I leave it, lock it and take the keys home, this truck is nursed, not hammered” I said “You ain’t driving it, so take a spare Frieghtliner wreck” Cab Happy walked off almost in tears because I didn’t trust him, made a phone call and the boss gingerly came back to say sorrry for not consulting me first, I said that this kid who destroys every truck he drives should not take the best truck on the fleet and destroy it in one day. I sat in the cab doing my paperwork and looked across at Cab Happy sulking at the wheel of his truck and had sudden guilty pangs, I walked over and said “If you promise not to hammer this truck, or go over 1500 revs you can use it” his face lit up.
“I promise” he said.
And so at this moment my truck is now probably being towed to the nearst Volvo dealer with a nackered engine, this is just what I imagine, if such a thing has happened, Cab Happy, The Boss and all the Machanics will be drawing straws to be the one to phone and tell me.

Pray for my Volvo

edited for language if it needs stars to get past the censor it’s not allowed  mrs mix

You’re too soft

Heh, Since you keep it in such good condition Pat, it should be able to cope with a day of the kid’s driving with only a set of new filters and an oil change (don’t forget to lube the chassis too…)

The point is that this kid gets into a truck and what ever the top speed of that truck is, it will be doing that speed all day. I did point out that I will check the fuel consumption first thing Tuesday (Monday is Labor day) :exclamation:

Not only did I get into the yard to find my truck in one piece but ‘Cab Happy’ had brought my trailer from Albany to the yard for me, a nice gesture but he cost me about $40 in extra mileage and pick up money and neglected to let me know :exclamation: which would have saved me getting up two hours too early

I know the feeling Pat. I had to take a day off because I was ill only to go back to work to find my truck in the shop after they sent another driver out with it who tore up the ■■■■■■. I ended up having to drive a Mack Super Liner for nearly 2 weeks (Oh my poor back)
