Keith …my father seems to think the driver was by the name of Ted Stokes from indeed the Eardisley area …tinplate from Trostre …
Sharples again do you recall a driver by the name of Harry Jenkins …drove a micky mouse Foden artic ? …also from the same place …Geraint

Hi Geraint , i have to say i do not recall Ted Stokes , though Harry Jenkins does sound familiar .
would your father remember Jack Morris from Sennybridge ? , he had an Atkinson and a Guy big J artics on steel from the Abbey ,in colours almost the same as Blueline ! would see them tipping many a time in West Bromwich , regards Keith .

Good evening all.
Both Ted and Harry were from the Staunton-on-Wye area, unfortunately neither are no longer with us R.I.P.
Harry drove the Foden artic LCJ 526F for Sharples from new as far as I can remember. I think John Williams drove it afterwards?
Ted drove for Hughes Llanelli and a few others from South Wales before he went on for B.E.Williams?
I also remember Jackie Morris, as well as the Guy Big J (Gardner 180) and Atkinson (Rolls 220?) artics he had a Volvo F86, all running with M&G trailers. The colour was a very dark grey/blue from memory!!
In the earlier days (1965/1967) he had a AEC rigid which I believe Richard Darroll drove for him?
Billy Trout drove for him too. Selwyn Davies worked for him a mechanic in his younger days. Again neither of these gentlemen are no longer with us R.I.P.
Stretching the “grey matter” a little, Jackie’s brother in law ( Martin Thomas !!!■■? ) ran a couple of vehicles on timber, one being a Commer TS3 artic with pole trailer.
John Brown also from the Sennybridge area ran a Leyland Bison 6 wheeler on stock haulage. Later he had a ERF 6 wheeler rigid with coil well which he did a mixture of stock and steel work!

Best regards Jack Cook

PS, Tommy Nottingham also drove for Jackie Morris, I am not sure whether he did change over with Richard Darroll back in those days?
