if i remember dave, one of longson’s drivers moved down to winforton , married a local girl and became licensee of the sun inn . that must have been in the early 70s . cheers , dave
Quite possibly Dave. The Sun Inn has changed hands a few times, it seems to be doing OK nowadays. Sam Longsons Fodens and Atki’s used to motor up and down that road in my day, but they couldn’t get by my Bedford KM with a two speed axle.
Cheers Dave.
John Worsley I believe was the driver you are thinking of, I knew him quite well in those days.Sadly no longer with us RIP.
When he finished at The Sun Inn I believe he worked for Andrew Cameron at Letton Court, he drove a new Foden 4000 series on Potato deliveries ect.
Regards Jack.
Was he he the bloke that Mark ''spud ‘’ Preece drove the lorry at his funeral Jack ?
Cheers Dave.
Hi Dave. Yes that would be the man! John was always called “Wurzel”. Super chap, full of fun.
Regards Jack

Hello Dave and cc, Yes that’s the one. Andrew had it new, I don’t know how long he kept it or where it ended up!!! We did put a new cab on it after an accident at Newtown Cross Roads, before they installed traffic lights there. It was a bad, blind junction at that time. !!!
Regards Jack.

Quite agree about Newtown Cross Roads Jack, was a bad place at a funny angle. Much safer now with the lights, also Trumpet is better with lights and Preston Cross much better since the roundabout was put in.
Cheers Dave.

Yes Dave, many improvements to junctions locally over the years, much safer, also with the amount of traffic on the roads.
One of the better recent ones I think, is the mini roundabout at the end of Yazor Road and Grandstand Road junction in Hereford !!!
Regards Jack.
Another cracking pic cc.Plenty of tyre marks, must be the top of the hill where Roberts Ross Roadways swing off.
Cheers Fave.
Dave , Tracy , Hi , it was further on down the A40 from there , it was the bridge (now sealed off) just before the Monmouthshire border .
Now used by doggie walkers as it has accesss to the river , cc .

Got you now cc. I was thinking of the Glanarew turn off, but the angle would be wrong for that.
Cheers Dave.
