Butlers quarry,Maltby

This is where the tarmac plant was, look at pics posted earlier sadly all demolished due to It catching fire many years ago.

Old weighbridge.
New weighbridge.

hi Paul is that short road,to the roundabout a public right of way.i did a bit for hansons a few years back & loaded at grimethorpe for maltby pit we used it as a shortcut to bypass stainton village & I always felt uneasy doing it,but it was the way I was told to go. Regards alan

Hi alan,It is not a public right of way it was put in to divert all lorries through the quarry instead of going through the village. When I started going with the drivers in 1968 all lorries went through the village.I went to take some pics last week that I have put on tarmac tippers thread when I saw a alfred hymas come through village and turn round at the entrance to quarry, before I could get my camera sorted out and ask him if he needed any help he shot off like a bat out of hell, wonder if anyone from the village got his number.I think it was tarmac that put the road in could have been part of the deal when they bought butlers?Regards paul.Have you read about marshalls quarry?

So is it for any lorry to bypass the village Paul or only quarry traffic.ye I read about marshalls finishing,I can see around a dozen wagons are they based there’ & who’s are the silver cabs amber hill?
