Busy Mr Trump

cars:
from your link … That’s because parts cross the US, Canadian and Mexican borders multiple times before a vehicle is assembled. heres the hint imported again home made no tariff.

Beer tennessee whiskey and tequila
from your link… Popular Mexican beers Modelo and Corona could get more expensive for US customers if the American companies importing them.
whiskey made in america wont be taxed its only imported whiskey and tequila etc that will be. so what if i buy a bottle of bells from the shop it will cost around 20 pounds if i buy a japenese whiskey it will cost a darn site more.

Houses
again from your link Imports of Canadian lumber

Maple syrup
Yes guess what its imported imported goods are more expensive basic ecconomics.

Fuel
again from your link… Canada is America’s largest foreign supplier of crude oil. Trump has made it possible to use their own oil something the lentle munchers were moaning about on here a few days ago.

Avocados
from your link again … Grown primarily in Mexico due to its warm, humid climate, avocados make up nearly [90% of the US avocado market each year. Well here is a hint grow em your selves,

I fail to see why your confused. its basic economics. Its like all the bleating by all the british companies crying that their company is struggeling because of brexit when in reality the reason their company is struggeling is they have used forign labour and its dried up a little

You could be right but to me they’re stealing democracy right from under their noses, Those recent pics of the orange clown hugging the stars & stripes flag are an afront to all the men who died in wars whilst he draft dogded with a c0ckamamie excuse of bone spurs, I’ve just been reading the financial press & the wall st journal & the financial times are astounded at his incompetence with these tariffs.
I speak with my mates in the USA & Canada on a daily basis in the early hours of the morning due to the time difference & they tell me what happening.

My mate Greg in Tennessee is in the middle of arranging a hip replacement with his insurance but he’s been locked out of his insurance account by Musk & his Räuberhauptmann thugs. This guy is long retired & has worked all his life in construction, paid his dues but doesn’t know what’s happening with his upcoming surgery.
Mike in Canada told me about the Toronto Raptors basket ball game where the crowd booed the entirety of the US anthem being played, unprecedented by Canadian people.

We had tariffs and unique antipollution rules to protect our vehicle manufacturing industry, until the 1970s. All that did was ensure the big three, General Motors, Ford and Chrysler could churn out mediocre rubbish, as the rest of the world was basically priced out of the market. Anything European became a luxury car. A Volvo 244 was double the price of a mid-range Holden/Falcon/Valiant.
The locally built cars had no development until tariffs were removed and Euro compliances were recognised.
Suddenly the big three had to improve their wares to become competitive. Our Commodore improved out of sight, beating six series BMW in a head to head comparison.
Tariffs hinder developments and contribute to inflation, but the headline sounds good.

Yeah for now.
Don’t listen to the haters, do not underestimate him, Trump is no fool.
You do not get in the position that he hasgot to in buisness and politics by being a naive idiot.

Like it or not we will need the US more than they will ever.need us.
I aint in favour of kow towing or arse crawling, in any walk of life, but even Starmer aint stupid enough not to realise that the US make a better friend than an enemy.

So if some damage limitation humble pie and a bit of purpose endearment has gone on, after all the sh the Labour Party has flung towards Trump in the past, let’s hope it has worked.

The way i read it is he is increasing imports and the American company importing it has to pay the Levy and will pass the Levy on to the American customers
Shooting himself in the foot, getting the Levy from his own people
The other side could be that he wants them companys outside the usa to manufacture their products in usa and create jobs

i dont know how else to explain it other than this

company a wants to buy a widget for their product. they can buy it from an american company at 10 dollars or from a forign company for 7 dollars. company a buys the cheaper product. thats 10 dollars of tax revenue and american jobs up in smoke. if there is a tariff that makes the forign item cost 13 dollars then company a will buy the american one. upshot is that 10 dollars of tax has gone into the coffers, an american job saved and less people on the dole.

Got to admit I aint fully up on the ins and outs of all this stuff, .mainly cos I aint bloody interested.

But if that analogy is totally accurate…
Why is he getting lambasted so much for putting his own country, it’s industry, and it’s people first and foremost.
It’s a pity things were not done in a similar context in this country by it’s leader.

Yep that makes perfect sense for like for like products, its the not like for like products that will affect the economy

they are like for like products every single one in your list can be and is made in america. The only difference is it will be of better quality

to bring it closer to home a pair of tights before brexit crossed the channel 7 times before they went to the store. thats 7 trips belting out poloution thats 7 operations that should of been done by a british company using british workers

im assuming that is aimed at me. a few lenttle munchers are getting their knickers in a twist because while they spout off about the enviroment and all the other leftie nonsense they are only interested if it doesnt affect them.

What’s that old saying? Oh yes, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

If true then I think Trumps tariff attack on Canada is entirely justified.

Tbh mate no it wasn’t.
Way I see it is Trump is an unorthodox strong leader who puts his country first, and does not suffer these woke pricks and their ways.
It just amuses me as I have said how a few Brits on here are getting carried away with the displays of hatred.
If any politician is to be hated, one or two a bit closer to home that actually affects us should be concentrated on…just let em get on with it in their own country I say.

(Oh sh last time I said that meaning Germany I was branded a Nazi :joy:…so presumably by the same token concerning the US I could be accused of membership of the Ku Klux Klan.

Anyhow…must dash, got a wooden cross in front garden needs set fire to…bloody cold out there, wheres me Gestapo style leather overcoat.:joy:)

Thought they were some sort of dance troop off X Factor-didn’t realise they gone into construction!

Just caught tail end of a news interview with Trump.

Quote:… ‘‘The UK and European Union are both outa line at the moment. I think the UK can be worked out, but the European Union is an atrocity’’ :joy:

I’m starting to like this guy.:joy:

Meanwhile our own illustrious leader is on a jolly in Brussels atm…with his nose firmly up the EU’s arse.

As opposed to Lord Ali’s?

#justsayin

he certainly gets around he is begining to compeate with truss i wonder if his doc has given him some cream for those calouses on his knees

How to win a war without firing a shot.

If only the weak, pathetic and woke liberals in our country would realise that appeasement and weakness gain you nothing except maybe contempt

Rubio says El Salvador’s president agreed to house American criminals

Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele Monday and said that “in an act of extraordinary friendship” Bukele had agreed not only to take in deported foreign nationals who committed crimes – but also jailed American citizens and permanent residents.

“He has agreed to accept for deportation any illegal alien in the United States who is a criminal, from any nationality – be they MS-13 or Tren de Aqua – and house them in his jails,” Rubio said.

He has offered to house in his jails dangerous American criminals in custody in our country, including those of U.S. citizens and legal residents," he added.

Rubio called the deal the “most unprecedented and extraordinary migratory agreement anywhere in the world” and said, “No country has ever made an offer of friendship such as this."

President Donald Trump has previously mused about sending repeat offenders abroad, even if they are lawfully in the United States.

No it is not true that Canada had hundreds of % tariffs on those US goods.
For decades the US has been in free trade deal with Canada and Mexico, NAFTA.
Trump comes into power, and although he did nothing about theses things in his first term, he rips up the rule book within days.

Imagine if you are an employee of a company, and have a pay deal with the management. A new manager is bought in, and he immediately cancels all pay deals. Would you be happy?
Would you trust that company in the future?
And if not an employee, what about a supply company, that changes a signed deal overnight?
