This Burlingham bodied Leyland PD3 of Ribble Motor Services was new in May 1958.
It is now 55 years old and looking very neat. It is fleet number 1523. The long advert
on the side of the bus shows Robertsons Bread, this bakery was from the Carlisle area
in ■■■■■■■■■■■ The O.B.J. advert on the front is Duttons Brewery from Blackburn.

Routemaster in Romsey today

Probably Lisbon -

This picture shows Seaforth near Liverpool in 1952. On the left is a Ford 10cwt van.
The Ribble bus at the bus stop is a Leyland PD2 with what I think is bodywork by
Alexander of Falkirk. The Ribble bus at the rear is also a Leyland PD2, and its
bodywork is by Leyland. Picture from Bootle History Forum.

Hi Ray, on checking through Bus Lists on the Web I think that the bus in the forefront is a Leyland high-bridge body. Bus at the rear is probably a Brush bodied low-bridge body.

These 3 Leyland buses of Liverpool Corporation are passing through the Norris Green area
of Liverpool. The steam locomotive on the bridge looks like a Stanier Black 5. The centre
of the dual carriageway was formerly one of the main Liverpool Corporation Tram routes.

I drove Ribble 1523 several times on Carlisle city services 1963-4, a great bus to drive, manual gearbox and steering no bother at all.
Cheers,Leyland600.
