Bury To Glasgow (Correction from the M74)

Got to do a trip possibly Sunday evening if ready or early Monday. Anyone know the best route to take?, how long it will take?. It’s going near the exhibition centre cheers. Ps anyone also know a good place to park if arriving Sunday very late.

Four hours. Get on the 66 near b and q towards burnley and join the m6 north

Cheers was planning that way it’s after m6 and the parking worried about. Was even considering going towards bolton picking up m61 then m6

M60 - M61 - M6… when you get towards glasgow you should (if i remember correctly) see signs for the SECC, follow them!

there are a few places to pull up round the SECC, OR just sit on the services at the top of them M6…

Cheers

If it is service stations you are looking for, Hamilton Services on M74(n) or just across the motorway Bothwell services M74(s).

Not sure I could recommend a safe industrial estate.

:grimacing:

Been racking my brains thinking of somewhere near the SECC to park and I can’t think of anywhere. Hamilton Svcs is probably your best bet.

Another thing is that i would recommend, is that you use the M74, M73, M8 to J19 for the A814 for the SECC. If you continue on the new M74 extension, its a bit trickier trying to find your way to the SECC unless you know your way through the town.

Yeah I’d second that. Have you got a satnav?

Got a truck nav yes. I really do appreciate everyone’s help. For some stupid reason the company I am currently doing a bit of work for think the load will be ready to go Sunday night. Me personally feel that unless a load of pixies come over night and produce three quarters of the load I am not leaving till dinner time Monday earliest. Dreamers.

that will be Carlisle then

Assuming you make it that far, then you have Southwaite (before Carlisle) or Gretna (just after Carlisle) on M6.

If you want a truck stop, Golden Fleece off J42 is ok (£8) also one you can’t miss off just J44 as well “Night Owl” (2nd exit off roundabout as you leave), then straight over next roundabout and entrance is sliproad on your left. Think the latter do food quite late.

If you want to chance it, then a few trucks generally overnight in the estate by Asda (leave J44, 2nd exit off roundabout, then right at next roundabout, then left).

Cheers all will let you know how I get on

He could, but I have no idea whether or not he would be safe there. My dad used to work a Hewdens in Queenslie, more than 10 years ago now, unscrupulous people used to sneek in and steal diesel from the plant. As I never night out, I wouldn’t know which estates are good or bad. :grimacing:

None of the above! Bargeddie KFC, McDonalds and a cinema! :grimacing: shower on the way down! :sunglasses:

How about the ind estate across from Glasgow airport where Malcoms have got a depot? I’ve parked there many a time and had no bother. There’s an asda and a pub across the road too.

Queenslie is next to easterhoose one of the roughest estates in the entire uk ffs. Id either park in the righead in Bellshill or the showcase as above.

You are kidding, Bury to Glasgow if you can’t figure that one out give up now. Buy a map. I would be embarrassed to ask.
