Bulkhaul,Stillers,and David Fox Transport?

Hi there,I was just wondering if any of you good lads and laddettes have worked for Bulkhaul,Stillers and/or David Fox transport in Middlesbrough/Stockton?

If anyone has, please could you give me some info as to what the relative companies are like to work for,and some regards to wages.I will be moving north at sometime in the future, and am worried about what sort of pay drop I will have to take.Currently,I am working in Hertfordshire on no nights out,and around £25000pa.The girlfriend keeps hinting at Bulkhaul,as she has heard they are paying around £7 pound odd per hour.Conditions are sometimes just as important as money though,I know. Thanks for any info.Bon Voyage!

Glenn,

Although I never worked for Bulkhaul, I worked alongside their drivers in Europe. They expected a kilo of flesh for their money then, and I gather they still do. Things change I know, but 5 years ago I would not have touched them with a very long pole. This isnt sour grapes, I have personal experience of some of there tricks :stuck_out_tongue:

I would personally go to Sadlers, Stillers

Another warning, although you will get that from them that live there, It appears that the North East is not the best renumerated place in the UK

Didn’t TC work for them  .He is away on some personnel buisness at the moment, but i’m sure guy’s like Rikki,Davey Driver and Quinney might be able to help as they are mainly local lad’s.

Have a look here…STILLERS

Depending how are North you are coming you could always go to Reed Bordall at Boroughbridge on the A1. They want the max legals hours but it is good tackle and fridge well.

See Truck and Driver this month for info and a contact number

i know david fox has a permanent sign outside his yard for drivers but thats as far as my knowledge goes.

if you want to be left to get on with the job and have a boss you can talk to,it has to be fox,s

From what I hear, Bulk haul are paying £9 for all hours but they have a waiting list of about 35 drivers. Fox’s are advertising for Local, Distance and Day trippers in their Lackenby office. Most of the work is steel plate and it is all sheeted for you by the shunters. I worked for Stillers for 3 weeks and that was 3 weeks to much but I was on the steel and general haulage. The tanker drivers have a better Traffic clerk. Wages when I was there was £5.18 per hour but a guarantee of 14 hours for days, nights was more. They have recently been advertising for Powder Tanker Drivers for £7 hour, training provided. They also have the Savers contract at Darlington and a tautliner yard in Newton Aycliffe. Both Savers contract and the tautliner are better than the general haulage out of Stockton. If you have ADR you could try BERTSCHI or DENNIS NIXON. If you need any further info I could ask around.

Regards
Westie

Thanks for the replies lads.I think I will give Stillers a miss! :open_mouth: How these companies get drivers to work for them at those rates is truly shocking! I think I will give David Fox a ring, but if he has a permanent sign up for drivers,I won’t hold my breath when he tells me the remuneration package.Cheers for the info,Westie.

Noooo… don’t ring Foxies the reason they have the sign there is obvious. For legal reasons I cannot say any more.
I wouldn’t move to Teesside if you were looking for decent wages either. Look on the Job Centre web site for driving jobs in the TS18/TS19 postcodes the wages offered should be enough to convince you to think again.

If you must come Stillers are offering £414.18(nights) and £371.70(days) for five shifts a week on general haulage.

Never worked for bulkhaul but speaking to their lads they seem happy.
