Wild guess is that double drive and last axle also lifts. That axle configuration has been gaining popularity quite fast among Finnish feed lorries during last years. Previously 1+3 in steer + steer&lift, drive, lift configuration was popular but now 1+3 is often seen in steer + drive, drive, steer&lift configuration.

This bulk blower carries animal fodder and has demountable boxed so that he can deliver both tanks to those [zb] err… farms where he can’t go with trailer.

i can see plenty of gateposts being taken out with that !, i took a load into a farm at veryan in cornwall on friday & took nearly 20 minutes shunting round a corner in the lane to the farm , can imagind the damage youd cause to some places !

my drive for 3 days last week :frowning: aparently it’s got 340 horses, shame they were put out to stud a long time ago , not so much a grand national ride as donkey derby :unamused:

Probably not so much one would think at first glimpse. Rigid has a huge rear overhang from drive axles to the drawbar hitch, which makes trailers front axles to almost follow rigids front tyre tracks. Trailers wheelbase also isn’t much longer than rigids, so cut in on corners probably is much less than one would think. I’d be willing to say that outfit easily goes around a tighter corners than normal 16.5 metres long artic.

Disclaimer: of course there are places (i.e. farms) where this outfit is simply too long to fit into the yard

one from today

A couple of old pics, not sure who’s the second one was

pics borrowed from washy jnr from old devon companies topic

self service

Lot,s of great pics, but none of good old W J Oldacres . Anyone got any Oldacre Pics. I,m ex Oldacre and they were a good firm to work for.

this is the only one i found on the net

Nice to see the colours again, with it having the lifting mid axle I would think that this is one of the later ERF,s after they went under the Dalgety umbrella. I finished with Oldacres around 1990 /91 and all our units at Flixborough were twin steer not lift axle, with a mix of donkey engined traillers and hydraulic wet pack blowers.

Couple more of ours…

spose i should post a pic of me own lorry in here :unamused:

some of these pictures are from a man with many uniforms as one of our mills went from hanfords > ABN > PYE-BIBBY > MOLE VALLEY

GZU has had as many uniforms as the drivers !

as did GZT although i havent got a good one in ABN or MVF colours , here she is in PYE-BIBBY colours , poor old girl has now been taken off the road & is currently used as spare parts to keep others her vintage running

still running & still a ■■■■ good truck , pulls like a train with good blowing gear still a better drive than the newer 02 versions of this truck
with private plates as X22ABN

& with her X986OBA plate

& last for now an ex-patten bros. MAN in Round oak services colours , hired to us when an FM threw her Diff out of the pram

Just be browsing the forums and found this thread.

My Dad worked for 25 years at ABN / Bibby at Sherburn depot. Started off on a Volvo F7 Bag wagon, had an MAN and an ex Dalgety Volvo, then got swapped to bulk and got X16 ABN, Volvo FM12 8x4.

I used to go out for days with him for about 23 of those years. Loved every minute of it.

If anyone on here worked / works for ABN I’d be interested to get in touch.

I’m loving the pics of the ERF’s in ABN colours. I remember R13 ABN/R14 ABN 6x4 rigid trucks based at Sherburn. Where was the Volvo FL7 on page 1 based ?
