Bryan dobson's 143 500

I think it may have been the F reg I used to see then, working for someone from the Forest of Dean mostly pulling for AA Griggs out of Cwmbran.

Yep would have been the F reg. It was at the scania dealer near Ross for a while. That was a few years ago now

What trucks are you running now  if any

ellies dad:
yes its sti;; on the road i have seen pics of it too but they are copyrighted…so i wont copy and paste em.

Here’s the photo’s Elliesdad mentioned of Caffery’s 143… I don’t think it’s the Dobson Scania, as Caffrey’s is a 450 and 1996 reg
It’s possible that Caffrey’s have another 143 in the stable

While we’re on the subject has anyone seen the restored 143-500 in November Truck &Driver. Its an absolute stunner done by Ashley Pearce.

thats a cracking motor

That truck is the cats knackers !!! . I love it !. RS Turbo Recaros in a Scania, nice touch :sunglasses: . The H-plate 143 with it in one of the pics looks the business too. Thanks for sharing.

I’m not gonna lie. There was a stirring deep within !

do believe the h plate is ex shippy !! use to be on portbridge many moons ago !! use to be driven by scooby who has sadly passed away now !! but 99% certain it was bought new by them !! it was a crackin motor then too !!

100% correct chappers. i’ve got photos of it in portbridge colours before we had it

That is a real nice motor, very tasteful & not a frilly curtain in sight

I was lucky enough to own a V8 143 & I have to say it’s the best lorry I’ve ever had, I would have another one tomorrow if I could.

I SAW IT LAST YEAR AT A VINTAGE SHOW IN LUSK IN NORTH CO DUBLIN
STILL THE SAME THEN BAR THE NAME GONE OF IT

DO USE STLL HAVE TRUCKS TOM

If that was a 450 it would be my Perfect truck!!!

Why a 450 over a 500? Were the 500s unreliable?

Not to my knowledge… But the 450’s were the last of the non electronic contolled units, so could be tweaked sans laptop etc.

I had L99 RHW, a Westfields of Truro V8 Topline 450, and the guys there (Who know a thing or two about Scania’s), all prefered the 450’s.

Mind u a 143-500 aint a bad motor by any means!!!

Living in Holyhead as a kid, 99% of the paddys ran 450’s, but i bet they were at 500bhp+

Well erm yes i suppose, Stan Rawcliffe is a very good mate of my dads (And mine for that matter, gave me my first job)

Stan lives just down the road from here.

I also know Brian and John Rawcliffe and a lot of their boys in Ormskirk well. Rawcliffe is one hell of a company if u know them, true proffesionals, they know their game inside out!

Certainly are, got a cracking new OAF TGX on the road, just a shame the last heavy Scania is on its way out. Im currently on their waiting list, much closer than my current job and better money.
