You’ve got an “Equity card” surely ? Well you can act “the daft bugger” at times, can’t you “H” !! Cheers Dennis.

I worked at Cressy Rd.,Hampstead Depot (CJ), London, on Trunk and Shunting, I only ever done one tramping trip to Wigan and I have never ever heard of an OPs 6 although i am not saying they did not exist, only I did not use them at Hampstead. I agree that the Traffic Office at Hampstead or any other depot I visited was not over staffed when compared to Inter City Transport or Suttons (St Helens) Ltd. both well known private hauliers. There was both good and bad about the BRS with some of the good finding its way in to private hauliers after de-nationalisation ie. a big increase in Trunk operations and Articulation…Tony
now you mention op’s6, as said ,a running sheet, we use to put full of useless imfomation on. when i trunked i never had a op6, probebly because they knew it was A to B then back, didnt need to bunker, nor draw cash ■■ dose that ring true any one.

hiya,
I too have done trunk on the odd occasion when with the BRS and
still had to fill in the OPs6 as “otto” states it was your weekly pay
record and if you didn’t hand it in you got nowt until you did, you
didn’t have much in the way of paperwork, OPs6 and the logsheet.
thanks harry, long retired.

once i had a query with my money . went to wage clerk nice old bloke . he brought out big pile of ops 6,s . floped them down . put his thumb bottom right hand corner and flicked through them like a pack of cards stopped and pulled my ops 6 out . magic no he said i go by signature . he knew all the drivers signature . only trivial but amused me . [otto] .

Harry, what does OPs 6 stand for ? Regards Larry
hiya,
As far as I know Larry all BRS paperwork had a number the 6 being
the number for that item of paperwork and OPs for Operations or
your weekly Operations that you carried out just like a normal time
sheet used in any other business to let the guvnor know what you’ve
done, or as some of you think haven’t done. Remember it was a rare
sight to see a Red & Rust vehicle running any distance empty.
thanks harry, long retired.

it was all ops this ops that .defect sheet was ops something . expect dissmissle notice was OPS 1 ? .
Now I think about it we used to do a weekly time sheet, this was white with black lines and letters could this have been an OPs6? we of course also did a daily log sheet both tended to be a work of creative fiction…Tony.

hiya,
If you had the “worth it’s weight in gold” BRS folder the OPs6 was exactly the
size of this when opened up and the sheet you describe Tony sounds to be the
sheet in question if you didn’t have it you wasn’t a BRS driver it identifide you
when visiting another depot so no OPs6 no work if you didn’t start from your
own yard on the first day of your week you could after confirmation via your
own depot get one from any other BRS yard, time for a cuppa while they got
the say so.
thanks harry, long retired.
The defect sheet was numbered ops 13. will still have them today, there is also an expense sheet which may be ops 11? yes suprisingly although the company has changed names several times and the paperwork has seen a few design changes, they all still carry ops numbers.
I remember filling out the ops 6 in BRS days and recording the weight carried, miles run empty etc. we still had them as late as the mid 80’s for drawing fuel at Dundee, Lockerbie and the Golden fleece on Scotch trips !
Hell’s Bells, Trev,
I’d completely forgotten about Operations Form 13! Our workshop foreman named me “Defect” due to my insistence on having my motor in pristine condition & of course every visit to the workshop had to be accompanied by Ops 13.
