BRS DEPOTS

There was a BRS depot at Cwm in South Wales [near Ebbw vale] it has been the yard for H Morgans haulage for at least 30 years.

i found these on the net, im not sure if some have been missed out but this is where the BRS had set up bases

there was also a north east depot at hexham near the chipboard factory,it’s still there but looks like an agricultural machinery outlet, thanks harry long retired.

There used to be a BRS depot on London Road West Thurrock, and right next door was Pickfords tanker depot ( Later tankfreight and Eldapoint)
Has anybody any pics of Pickfords tankers in the 60’s especially

I think that there was a B.R.S, depot at Red Bank, Cheetham Hill. Manchester.

Hi. The London Depots for General Haulage i.e. the red ones worked like this, Hampstead Depot seviced the North West, Tuffnel Park serviced Scotland and North East, Kentish Town serviced the midlands, Brentford serviced the West and South Wales and Mile End was for East Anglia etc.

The BRS Depot in Queensferry, North Wales was on Chester Road, the site is now occupied by B&Q, Lidl and Pizza Hut next to Deeside Leisure Centre.

That was the old Thomas Hardie volvo dealership aswell, b4 they moved 2 deeside ind est takin BRS with them.

yes the depot at red bank was known as brs cheetham the rigids had cheetham written on the chock rail there was also wigan depot known as brs kitt green used them on many occasions kitt green was a stones throw from heinz’s who was their main source of work.

ridings at longridge now tdg was part of burnley group

worked for ridings at the longridge yard in the very late 60s and never knew that they had ever been in a BRS group,you learn something new every day.

My dad and brother worked there and my brother in law still works there. they drove the s type Bedford and their depot at middlesborough was run by an ex brs man Frank ferguson, they also had a depot in Frank Street preston which was owned by a family member of ours called davidson. NVT 460 was the last leyland beaver riding ran whic was ex brs TALK ABOUT DRIVING BEING IN MY BLOOD!

BRS DARLINGTON was on blackett road off haughton road and the site is now occupied by netto & wickes. :smiley:

thanks for the info laybuy, i knew frank we got on ok both being ex BRSers didn’t work at longridge very long it was a bit far out for me i lived in darwen in those days there was a guy from darwen worked for riding’s for years was he called norman?, the nickname joe clanger seems to ring a bell too, can’t remember anybody else it was a long time ago and i didn’t like the return trips to teesside every trip i had always been a tramper and went back to that,always had a good motor though.i left with the invitation to return if i so wished.

joe clanger still works there norman was norman holland albert brown and ken wade also from that side of gods county

thanks again laybuy, joe must be getting on for retirement age now i remember him as a cheerful lad nothing seemed to bother him was the yard foreman called "tiny,"what sort of work do they do there now can’t be much ICI left, that was all there was when i worked for them.

I think there was a BRS Depot in Liverpool by the Dockers Club i think its Townsend Lane.It was by the railway bridge there was a steep drive to get top it,anyone confirm this :question: :question: :question:

When i started with BRS at Warrington depot in 92 the only Liverpool one then was on Gt Howard street but there was`nt much else there apart from the truck rental side of things.

There was a small BRS depot at Kington in Herefordshire, the garage that I worked for in 1963 had it then, don’t think it could have been open for many years.
