hiya,
Although Sandbach was in the same group as I was in it was a depot that I
never called in, ddn’t even know where it was, wonder what their traffic
was, can’t help with any memories, sorry.
thanks harry, long retired.
Harry, the 1960 BRS directory says the depot was at The Hill Garage, Newcastle Road. Remarks; Trunk services to London,North East and South Wales. The fleet then was mainly 8wh Fodens plus a few Atkinson and ERFs
There are some other BRS related items on these other forums. North Wales Haulage Companys Page 17; car transporter companys old and new Page25 and Fans of Foden Page 5.
Hi Tidderson i remember Reading depot in the sixties used to load back from them to the north west. The traffic clerk was a big tubby guy called Tiny. i had an 8 legger Foden and he loaded me with 15 tons of advertising pamphlets,109 deliveries between Liverpool and Carlisle, not very nice of him, still that was the job then, just got on with it.Cheers Ted

Just found this photo of Reading depot that I took in 1960. Quite a varity oh makes!
Hi Tidderson. Nice pic of the Reading depot although a little later than my time on BRS (Oxford) but would you by any chance remember any traffic staff around late 50s-i.e Charlie Gannon, and John Bruard – I remember we (AMEYS) bought a number of the Reading depot trucks from BRS and the mentioned above with others came and joined us at AMEYS TRANSPORT (OXFORD ) LTD.

Hi Toxic Gas Man. I think a lot of us drivers on BRS had similar experiences --I once in Glasgow was given a pile of notes for London by the traffic clerk -i handed them back and said " IM NOT CARTER PATTERSON " he said “YOU ARE NOW” he stared me out and pionted to the door !! as you say we just got on with it --happy days though,
