Hiya,
I only drove the BMC’s on the odd occasion and I can assure you they never got washed
by me, nor did the Octopus’s and Bristol’s which were my more regular drives, I did use
the previous days Daily Mirror to clean the glassware and that ceased when the screen
washers became standard, I did wipe the trailer number plate with a muddy rag every
now and again, I was the chauffeur not the valet, so Larry it’ll cost you nowt.
thanks harry, long retired.

I think it would take more than that to offend Bewick, Larry. Goodness knows, I’ve tried for some considerable time but he thrives on banter.

Thank you Tidderson ,wish I could find out who the proud drivers are ? mine is cleaner than yours springs to mind when I look at your photo.

Hiya,
Sound as a pound at the moment Larry, just been a bit busy dismantling the
greenhouse and trying to tidy the area where it stood, it wasn’t getting used
as a greenhouse anymore more like an overspill for more junk, the scrapmen
have had a field day a pile of aluminium including a set of five alloy wheels, a
couple of bikes, a greenhouse heater and a never ever used spin dryer which
the field mice had decided to make their home, I’m getting too old for this
type of work but I reward myself with a wee dram or two when I knock off.

Ross depot , had several of those Austins on Pressed steel fisher work , not sure if they had Commers , but maybe TIDDERSON will know ? regards Keith .

As far as I remember, Ross had a whole fleet of them servicing the PSF contract. When the depot was full, they were parked, along with the Red & White buses, along Cantelupe Road.

Certainly no Ross motors of any kind in Mitcheldean, Matey! And I can’t say I ever noticed Commers in Ross either, but that may just be my selective memory!
There would have been no reason for Ross-based vehicles to frequent Mitcheldean as it was only half a dozen miles from their home depot. There was, of course, the other reason that Ross were a “contract” depot and therefore seen as inferior to our “proper” haulage operation!

Just for info Ross depot had some Lad Albion tractor units. They were new and all of them had a severe braking problem. They used to pull to the right when braking. They had been fitted with the wrong brake cam shafts. How do I know? I had a short spell there after a transfer from Tyburn Road depot.Birmingham.

I think the Albions replaced the Austin/BMC motors, didn’t they, leylandlover? Were they Clydesdales with the 350 engine, or Chieftains with the old Albion 4-potter?
