Swindon depot shots ,I love all the stickers in the rear windows of these very tidy true wagons .

Two old Oxford wagons .

JAKEY:
What depot were these two fine well used CRUSADERS from PLEASE ?

Top one Mansfield Notts. Lower one Newton Abbot.
Peter

Thanks Peter, I never saw Crusaders working on the fleet except the Oxford wrecker ,but I think it had only just come off the fleet around 83 ish , we were still running Marathons though .

Found this picture when trawling through the internet some time ago.Anybody got any ideas about it’s history.I believe it’s an Albion HD57L but not sure about any details, one for you perhaps Peter.!!

NAT 309 was 1 of 5 Albion 8 wheelers based at Legrams Lane Bradford. Chassis no. 57113K new on 1/4/1952.
!st fleet no. was 32D645 then 4D322, 2D322 then DG4. The last fleet numbers started at 1 with the oldest vehicle being the next to go, so i think no. 4 wasn’t around for long. Peter

Thanks Peter, didn’t know about the later fleet number situation,I thought you might just have had the info if anybody had.Sadly Legrams lane depot long gone.I am sad to see so much of what was such a huge nationalised industry left only in the memories of those who worked and still are interested in what was nick named the “Red and Rusty” service.Long may we the few continue to support and remember all those who made it possible.to all I say, thank you.

Thank you, Tidderson, that’s a turn up for the books. I can’t for the life of me remember the name of the chap who drove this one, but I can see his face in my head! You know how it is when you get old!
I just hope that chap from ■■■■■■■ doesn’t assume that we all sheeted trailers in that state in our part of the country. And he’s managed to knock the nearside fog lamp off. Can’t imagine how he kept his job!
