British gypsum hauliers

Has anybody got any pictures of any British gypsum hauliers pre the likes of DHL and co , such as goodacres of hathern, proctors, bfi and old firms like that ,proper firms that used to rope and sheet.

Alright Nick !
I’ve got a few of when Syms of Calne used to go in there, and of one of their ERFs in gypsum colours, and remember Irving’s smart orange and blue livery, one of the smartest around, I’ve got a pic of one of their ERFs ?
I’ll dig em out !

Taken at east leake !

Nice one glen , I remember Irving’s well and you’re right they were a tidy fleet.shame we don’t see many roped and sheeted loads any more, gypsum hauliers were among the best for tidy sheeted loads.

Must be Dan, cause I remember Chamberlain Transport of Crewe having a C series on a D plate !
And I don’t recall seeing an E series lower than a D, but no doubt, there probably is …

E series came out on the C plate in 86, their was some overlap when the E series came out and led to there being a number of C series being registered on D plates. Some of the early E sereies were fitted with the old style grille Badges with ERF across the middle of the grille, but how that came about i dont know? Think the latest plate ive seen on a C series is an F, once ran by James Nuttall. Frank Burton (wasall?) had a 77 B series registered on an F plate!!!
Chris.

Hi Chris ,yes I’ve heard of that b series from Walsall before it was sitting in a shed for years.

Hi Dan, yes he used to do this often apparently, think there were 3 or 4 B series bought and stored and registered later, seem to remember a small article in REVS years ago.
Chris.
