Cliffords Fort, North Shields, Regards Larry.
Girls like these were landmarks all along a main road in the Czech Republic some of them stood alone in the middle of nowhere. I suppose they were offering a windscreen cleaning service or similar. A bit blurred, taken at speed.
Does anybody know what happened to the big stainless steel bull that stood on a plinth outside the Avesta steelworks just south of Tinsley Viaduct?
In the same area were the “salt and Pepper pots” alongside the viaduct, now gone, and the tower cranes just north of the bridge that are always lit up around Christmas time.

More than likely taken out by some agency bloke or other

Hi Spud, Spot on, Regards Larry.
Remember seeing it on my first holiday to Scotland in about 1971 as my dad had trained at Achnacarry, he wanted to see the old place.
There was a bridge on the M 20, most of it has gone now.
How the hell did he manage that? he’d come along the M 20, he must have got it under other bridges yet all of a sudden the digger boom clattered the foor bridge.

Unless he had just picked it up from the road-works behind it, and then not loaded it correctly. I’m sure we’ll hear the answer before long. Robert

A transporter bridge, a road bridge, a railway bridge, a canal and a river. There must be loads of us on here who used the road bridge so where is it.
What a cracking pic !
I went on the Transporter a few times as a lad visiting relatives in Runcorn. It was a right old bone shaker.Sad that they had to dismantle it,even not a working transporter,it would have made a great tourist attraction.
There are the remains of a transporter bridge not too far away, in Warrington.

Hi Spud, We had a nice long weekend at the Caledonian Hotel overlooking Lochlinnie, We did the cruise which included a three course top of the range meal, The weather was pretty good too, We had a picnic lunch where I took the photo of the Parachute Statue, Regards Larry.
Not the grandest of structures.
The little bridge on a forestry track at the England/Scotland border near English/Scotch Kershope.
The sign says “Welcome to Scotland”. It should also say “…as long as you’re on foot and not in a tanker…as the gate is padlocked.”
And that shadow’s not the McYeti taking a photo.

1Iconic Newcastle bridges there Larry. Went across them in my trucking days (also remember a very dodgy digs in Gateshead, just South of this bridge!) I think the building is now the Copthorne hotel - or it was some 10 years ago when my daughter was fancying Newcastle for Uni. We stopped there several times and went to a nearby restaurant from where we saw the teenagers heading for the nightclubs with next to nothing on in the freezing cold! She loved it! Luckily she eventually settled for Lancaster, which was a much shorter weekend commute!
John.
The Tyne Bridge at night, Regards Larry.0
I crossed the Tyne Bridge a couple of weeks ago. That’s me on the right hand side of the picture next to the road sign in the red and yellow top.

Just to be pedantic Eddie, it was an RTS tanker carrying Oleum (Fuming Sulphuric Acid) that overturned in December 1972. Pictures show that the tanker did have Armco type guards fitted. As a result of the accident and its horrible consequences The National Chemical Emergency Centre (NCEC) was set up to deal with major chemical incidents. (You can google that organisation which refers to the tragedy)
The RTS Tanker overturned on the M5 after breaking away from the tractor, the M6 accident happened in November 1972 where the Nurse was killed the vehicle was an AEC Mandator and the tank was punctured by the corner of a skeleton trailer , the RTS accident was much later as you can see in the photograph the tank was fitted with Hazchem that were introduced following the M6 incident.
