Has the bridge strike truck got an open top skip on it? And is there some sort of frame extending above the top of the skip?
So the skip would have gone under but not the load projecting above it?
Maybe it was only the protection beam that was struck, hence why the railway services recommenced 30 mins later. So, either it did it’s job? Or if it hadn’t have been there there wouldn’t have been any collision 
There’s no excuse for it really is there…

Is that part of the skip sticking up at the rear? Is that the only point of impact?
That is how I see it. It looks at least that the road is rising into the bridge so gets tighter as you go in that direction.
No… If the CPB hadn’t been there, then the bridge would have been knocked out of alignment and trains stopped for a lot longer than 30mins - these bridges sit on expansion rollers (or similar) so easily misaligned. The truck got stuck under the bridge so it was making contact with the underside, but the CPB would have taken the initial dunch.

Container is ECS and they are 45’ high cube so about 2.9m or 9’6" high.
That should be marked on the back doors, so you only need to measure from base of box to the ground for a good idea of the true height. (front corner obviously)

Several potential explanations, but little doubt about the results, P45 and an invitation for a get-together with the TC. Standard penalty these days seems to be 6 months suspension of entitlement
One can only assume incompetent, but there is the possibility of distracted driver beyond belief, complete and utter fool, maybe a stupid mistake (of course), Stevie wonder driving or any of a zillion other reasons.

Looks like he forgot to measure the height of the brace bar over the rear door! 
Did he get the alignment with the arch wrong? Or just overheight?
I’m trying to work out what shop he was trying to deliver to… There’s only houses and a closed down couple of pubs beyond that bridge, oh and a school accessible via a 7.5t street nearby…
