A bridge as been knocked down after being hit by a lorry.
The problem with the āaverageā bridge strike is the danger of getting stuck under it. Meaning you canāt reverse and take a run up at it at higher speed, if it didnāt go through first time.
Pity more folk donāt have the same attitude as Mr. Bridge Striker. If a jobās worth doing, itās worth doing well.
Have they removed the height restriction yet?
Can you imagine the bill for the operator for this one.
Hope he dont work for one of those crappy type lower end firms who charge their drivers for damage.
@robroy thatād knock the performance bonus around.
twice in one day . 3 times in less than a week . Drivers urged to āwise up, size upā after bridge bashed twice in one day
Iām sure the Spa Valley Railway would love someone to knock theirs down, it would save them a lot of money and get a nice new bridge.
In Grantham, it sounds like they will be able to green light a bridge for safety without attending soon.
Vehicles striking a bridge in Grantham have cost the taxpayer more than half a million pounds, according to Network Rail.
Harlaxton Road railway bridge has been hit 11 times since March 2024, resulting in a bill of Ā£600,000 for delays and damages.
i dont get how it costs the tax payer if it is the firms that pay the damages.
Maybe it is because the train delays entitle the passengers to compensation from the operator and the operator in question is the state. I havenāt the foggiest who the line operators are on the line.
i thought all rail was privertised could be wrong. However, any costs like compensation for the passengers would of been passed onto the firm in question
Just looked it up. Grantham is on the east coast main line and the operator is effectively the department for transport, who operate LNER , Northern, South Eastern and Trans Pennine Express.
Believe he worked for tarmac one of there artic tipper must have gone along with body raised.
That would be------A Bridge Too Far-sorry
If someone paid me 300k Iād gladly wipe it out
However looking at the pic its only 9ā9 So no āreasonableā excuse.
Hope they manage to raise it though, heritage railways are ace.
Looking at google maps with low bridges Grantham isnāt great for access. If the Councillor means lorries in general when he says āvehiclesā then heās a prat.
The Network Rail rail guy is spot on.
Carryfast is from Grantham isnāt he? Heāll give us the low down
i thought it was dozy that was from grantham and carryfast from inside the m25 but not london
Was it? I dunno one or the two
