More ‘Brexits’ to come ?
Surely not, when you listen to the habitual doom mongers.
Who’d have thought it eh? youtu.be/aEo8LB-78Wo
In 2018: “More than 90% of Irish people want to stay in EU”
The Irish Times.
Do you seriously think that the present situation will have turned that survey around?
One EuMP making a speech may make a YouTube video, or the headlines in The Express for the next year, but it ain’t up to much in the real world, is it?
Ok, but I could answer most of the (infinitely numerous ) ‘examples’ that you continuously put on here to back up your opinions with…
‘‘Do you really think’’/one (fill in the blank) making a speech…and definitely play the 'in the real world card.
But as I keep trying to tell you, it is all down to perspective and personal opinion.
I was merely trying to redress the balance, but if I continued to do so I’d be wasting my life as much as you trying to find stuff out there to back up an argument that is never going to make the slightest difference to the opposing opinion …life is just too ■■■■ short.
So that token gesture of illustration will more than likely be my last…but you just carry on mate.

Slightly off the topic, but for anyone who likes their fish, a heads up on the local fishmonger/merchant in Newlyn, that does overnight in the UK.
I get a regular box locally, they are really good and value for the money.
Up the line you get it express courier overnight for next morning delivery so it’s really fresh.
A box - around 4kg of fish - typically contains 3 different types of white fish fillet (Hake, Haddock, Cod, etc.) plus some flatfish (lemon sole), Mackerel, maybe John Dory, Red Mullet, etc. They fillet the white fish, whereas flats and mackerel come whole.
Great tip thank you. I adore fish and live 15 miles from sea yet it’s barely possible to get in this town. Always found it funny all this hoohaa over fish when in reality the UK is a tiny market, mostly because people are fools.

Surprised there is no fish man around you Luke my parents live just outside Llanstephan and the fish man is a weekly fixture specialising in mostly locally caught fish can’t stand fish myself but certainly no shortage of it around Carmarthen
There’s ‘sustainable’ fishing in Cardigan Bay, and when I lived near Cardigan there was a ‘man with a van’ who used to come to our village selling fresh-caught local fish. I gave his card to the people who moved into our house, and can’t remember his name, sadly.

Len Hes parked on square in my town Lampeter every Friday.

Yes as above we get Len every Friday but he only carries a fairly limited selection for obvious reasons. All lovely fish but not the range a fishmonger in a shop would have. I would love some scallops for instance and only ones I can find are in Sainsburys frozen… from Canada FFS… He does do lovely dressed crab. He used to call to my Grans house along with the fruit and veg van, meat van and at once point a grocery van
Luke, from the link I gave
Scallops are: £11.50 a dozen £25 a kilo
Not cheap like beans but seriously tasty for a treat.
I was once given a full bin/basket straight off the boat in return for a favour - had them every which way for nearly a week, including a Goanese style curry which I have to say was orgasmic.

Very good price I’ll certainly be getting some of them. Eating scallops for a week is a dream! I love nearly all fish but scallops are favourite
EU Says A Post-Brexit Shellfish Export Ban Is Indefinite, After Government Claimed It Was Only Temporary
The European Union has told the UK shellfish industry that oyster, mussel, clam, cockle and scallop exports are banned from the bloc indefinitely.
This shellfish is normally purified or processed in the EU before it is distributed to supermarkets, restaurants and bars. The UK government told affected businesses that this ban was set to expire on April 21, when Brussels implemented new animal health legislation.
“Scottish fisherman interviewed on TV tonight asked if he voted for exit. Yes, he said but not this disaster, 80% of business lost, pages of forms for just one box of fish which no one in government can explain how to fill in.
Would he vote to leave now, no answer but he says it’s for the best in the long term. There you have it he is about to go from fisherman to unemployed man and the sunlight uplands are still believed.
Not so much a political statement as a religious belief”

You’ve got to address the long term though and look at where the EU wants to be in 10-20 years time, more integrated and more countries. Yes, this guy is taking a hit now but he’ll find something to bring the pennys in, but he understands that it’s probably better to leave now with a few bumps in the road than to try and leave in 10 years time, imagine how much harder it will be then once we’re even more entangled. And anyone who thinks the EU has no plans for more enlargement and integration is living in some sort of parallel universe.
If the EU would have stayed as it was, and do what it was set up to do without trying to be the United States of Europe then there wouldn’t have been a Brexit vote in the first place.

Nothing stays as it was…
The British Empire is no more.
Neither is (as an economic force) the Commonwealth.
The world is bigger than a village, and bigger than an individual country.
No country is truly independent, especially one that doesn’t even grow enough food food for it’s own population.
We can accept that and join in with a group large enough to set some of the rules, and we can influence those rules, or sit outside and take any rules they make.
Either the world’s largest food aid convoy delivering aid to 3rd world Britain or EU companies doing trade with Britain, guess it depends on what paper you read 6Km queues into Calais

Is there a queue because of an unusually high volume of cargo or rather because of customs?
On the other hand, how much have the prices risen for cargo bound for the UK compared to, say, last summer?
It’s due to the high volume of traffic came through last Wednesday and it was busy although not as busy as today, so far no extra checks at the port as long you have your customs forms and MRN number then you are still booking on as normal.
A lot of firms said before Christmas that they wouldn’t go to the UK anymore yet all the usual companies are here today, not sure if the rates have risen or not.

Looks like our HM Govt is actively trying to join in “with a group large enough to set some of the rules” :-
The government’s announcement that it will apply to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement has caused celebration in those parts of the UK best placed to seize all the opportunities of seamless trade with their close neighbours in Malaysia and Peru.
In Halthamstow-on-Padungan, a tranquil English village overlooking the border with Sarawak, local mayor Simon Williams was keen to argue the evident wisdom of free trade crisscrossing the Pacific.
“It makes perfect sense geographically speaking. Being able to trade with no tariffs or paperwork with our immediate neighbours, like New Zealand, is an incredible boost to SME’s in our area."

I once quoted News Thump on here and one of the less aware members (a bloke from Portsmouth with a dog), had a go at me because he though I had made it up
