Brexit / pandemic

Looks like the current problems may be catching up with us as a company .
Work has been plodding along steady but sustainable during the pandemic with a few hours overtime most weeks .
But since Xmas with brexit thrown in the mix work seems to be slowly becoming more erratic with having to stand down the odd day ( paid for ) but makes me feel a tad negative about what’s coming next .
Anyone else think brexit was a mistake or do you think it will sort itself out in time .
Personally thought the country was economically sound at the time of brexit with plenty of jobs and work and the £ good against the euro etc . Think a lot of people voted for brexit for the wrong reasons .
Your thoughts on how your work is going and brexit etc .
Would love to know what was meant by the GET OUR BORDERS BACK etc etc . Bit of national patriotism but just words .

48hrs ago the EU were going to cut off our vaccine supplies, because they ballsed up their supply chains, and would happily have risked killing off our most vulnerable members of society to do it. Still think you’d like to be back in the fold? You cannot trust the French or Germans as far as you can throw them.

Cut off our supply is a slightly over the top , limit it
As for trusting the Germans / french etc do you honestly trust a lot of our own

FFs we’re only a month in give it a chance [emoji849][emoji849]
Or were the rose tinted specs clouding your view
I voted out and in no way expected the first months to be plain sailing and throw COVID in to the mix plus the sausage and snail eaters as well

Huge effect on my little OD set-up, worst Jan I can remember & Feb isn’t looking too rosy.

I do (or possibly did) lots of EU work, that’s currently a nightmare that I hope will improve.

Was busy busy in 2020, so for me it’s Brexit related, not cv19.

I won’t comment on the Brexit right or wrong, just a recipe for arguments on here.

the biggest problem with getting loads out to the EU at the minute is the fact that so many companies in the EU were simply not set up with customs agents prior to january. so far the only one of our dealers who was half way there were the romanians and he’s just arrived there missing certs, missing tool kits out of the machines (mind he had asked for 8 rachets and straps when he loaded , despite having 14 bolted to the trailer, not our haulier it was customer collect). czechs- hadn’t a clue, i’m still waiting for one of the austrians to collect and we dont know his customs agent, another austrian wanted an eta on his dumpers , and thats all gone quiet when i told him he could have it after we get his customs agent , and the invoice and packing list had been checked, 1 in france is using UPS, but that took a week to get, another in quimper has an agent , and after another week of to-ing and fro-ing, we’re now getting there but i’ve had to send copies of the EC / noise/newness and photos of the vin plate and noise decal let alone book a bloody lorry.
believe me its not bloody easy getting a load out to the EU now
