took what i thought was a 45 min break at 11.30am…turned out to be 43 mins…3 clocks all with different times, the vdo screen goes off after a while…
anyway, the vdo started flashing at about 4.15pm … says to take a break… the display says 1:4.30mins 0043 …so i took a 15 min break…
is this ok or should i have taken a 45 min break…

Your question is a bit difficult to understand. If you are saying you took a 43 minute break and followed it up with a 15 minute break when the tacho started flashing the break warning then that isn’t legal.
When you split the break the first part must be at least 15 minutes and the second part must be a least 30 minutes, should have taken 30 minutes at this point instead of the 15 I think you are saying you took.
For future reference, although the digi tacho screen goes off after a while it will come back on if you press the OK button, or just leave the ignition on and the screen stays live.
