Borris new idea

Borris as come up with a new money making scheme .Do you think
it will work .

standard.co.uk/news/london/w … 97656.html

No, if some crack head in brussels came up with this, it would be law tomorrow

No.

There is no cure for stupid, all it takes is one reckless cyclist/lorry driver and the hoped for zero death count won’t happen.

Boris would like to ban lorries from London! What planet do these [zb]wits come from ffs?

They are supposed to be intelligent people, yet they can’t work out that without lorries nobody in Britain except maybe the Police and Doctors/Nurses would have a job :bulb:

Nothing in the shops, so no shopworkers.

No raw materials, no factory workers.

No blue collar workers, so no white collar workers.

No wages for anybody, so no bankers, insurance, stocks etc etc.

The world of commerce only exists because of lorries and silly ■■■■■■■■ wants to ban them to save a few cyclists ffs.

That statement alone should see the toffee nosed twit sacked for gross incompetence :bulb:

From the news article…

They are exempt because sidebars makes it difficult for tipper trucks to drive off road, although City Hall has argued this is not relevant to London.

Where do they think the tippers will go once they leave London fully-laden with say, general rubble■■? Sometime or other they will need to tip…on a site■■?
Or vice-versa where will they go prior to tipping in London to get loaded■■?

These people just don’t realise what they are saying & I bet they are on mega-salaries!!!

I was given a sheet of paper when leaving a Mace site the other day saying they would refuse me access in future as my vehicle / company didn’t comply with FORS bronze standards. It actually does just doesn’t have the stickers on it :unamused:

It says that since one of their employees was killed in a cycle v truck accident in 2011 they are taking it seriously to improve the cyclist safety, no real issue with that in itself but I thought I’d look to see what role in the big construction company the unfortunate cyclist held. A senior cost consultant on the Olympics (can’t have been good at that job then as it went way over budget) I wondered if they’d have the same stance if he’d been a labourer, banksman or similar bod.

It also struck me that by refusing deliveries in future they would be adding further risk to cyclists by creating an additional HGV journey. How long until some cyclist gets wiped out by a cycle friendly vehicle then?

One of our nearby plant firms has spent a whole load of cash on this stuff for their vehicles but was turned away from one job as they had no audible warning that the vehicle was turning left, the driver pointed out that the two banksmen should be stopping cyclist as he enterred the site but it didn’t wash.

Maybe they should charge each cyclist £1 a day to help pay for all this crap which ultimately do no good anyway.

  • also noticed last week the cycle lane round the perimeter of the Bow roundabout, trouble is it makes turning left at the roundabout a sharp turn as they’ve nicked bits of road space to build the lane.

It’s about time cyclists were required to take some responsibility for their own safety by complying with the same traffic rules that every other vehicle on the road has to! Obeying traffic lights and no undertaking would be a good place to start…
They should also have some sort of easily visible registration number, be insured for third party risk and pay a nominal road tax to cover the cost of administering a registration system.

Most tippers in London have it anyway. Those out of London wont have to worry as should they venture within the M25, they can expect to have either their chassis cut through with an acetylene torch, or lorry torched, depending on which London muckshifting outfit they upset.

Sick of hearing the same ■■■■, come up with something new ya muppet :unamused:

If a brand new BMW 118d doesn’t have to pay road tax due to it’s low emissions, why would a cyclist :imp:

We’ve already got the ultimate responsibility, if it goes pete tongue, we’re dead, not much comes worse off than a cyclist in an accident.

I’ve said it a bzillion times, the muppets on cycles are probably also muppets in cars or in lorry’s or busses and even on foot, we’ve all had that ■■■■■■■■■ in a supermarket who walks right in front of you or hits you with their trolley etc - they’re a muppet, not a cyclist.

Mutual respect is what’s required, I always give loads of room as I pass a cyclist in my artic, yet a quick check in the nearside mirror, I can almost guarantee that every vehicle behind me will be within 1m of the cyclist.

Cyclists, horses and pedestrians have THE RIGHT to use the road, everyone else uses it under a licenced privilege, hence the licence plate, which means you give way to pedestrians, you give way to cyclists and you give way to horses. At the least, give them a safe distance when passing.

If they do something daft, it’s because they’re a ■■■, and in the end they will get their comeuppance and it’ll hurt

It strikes me that we are increasingly doing more & more to make sites a safer place… Inductions, Risk Assessments, speed limits, one way systems, segregating pedestrians/vehicles, hi-viz, SSOW, permits, licensing, training etc. etc.

As soon as we are in London traffic it’s a complete free-for-all…What a contrast with many delivery sites/RDC’s/Terminals/Blue Chip companies.

Too many vehicles/people/cycles/motor cycles of various skills & experience all fighting to get from A to B on the capital’s roads. No-one will ever accept blame…it’s never THEIR fault but honestly, there’s no way I’d cycle or motor cycle in London…they must’ve gone up ten-fold in number in last 10 years…where’s it gonna end?

It’s a total miracle there aren’t many many more deaths IMO.

I agree with boris, ban all hgv’s from london, just drop all the crap around the m25 in distribution centres, but he can’t have it both ways, make it his job to get all the crap distibuted by horse and cart

Sick of hearing the same ■■■■ myself, so how about a bit of insurance for cyclists

You know, like other road users :bulb:

Just as a matter of interest. How many of the eight cyclist deaths involving a lorry resulted in the lorry driver being prosecuted for causing death by dangerous driving or even a without due care and attention

I’m pretty sure the self propelled weirdos would be shouting from the rooftops if the lorry drivers had been convicted, yet I’ve not heard or read anything. So could it be that all this BS that has to be fitted to lorries only exists to protect a few (8 last year) retarded cyclists from themselves :open_mouth:

BTW cyclists are not zero polluting, apart from the self righteous hot air they spout, have you smelt one after a strenuous ride, not quite the Lynx Effect…

Last bit is tongue in cheek BTW (honest)

I say we drop it all a Reading/Sittingbourne or some other surrounding area and let the arse holes get it to it’s destination themselves.

BoJo needs to get his head out of his arse…!

I quite agree I cant stand the place, wont matter how many rules and regulations they come up with as I for one wont comply, I will continue to earn a living without going near the place
it’s a pity that many other hauliers will continue to jump through hoops and bend over when told to!

I think we need to setup a facebook page.

TruckersAgainstLondon.

A campaign to ban all HGV`s from the streets of London.

Who`s in??

How’s about an e-Petition■■?
