Bookers cash / carry deliveries

I apologise if this bit sounds racist, it isn’t

Actually it is - the fact that your observation it is based on your own experience doesn’t mean it’s not racist.

I couldn’t give two ■■■■■ to be honest. I bet I’m not the only one to find them generally ignorant.

Hi… i did a short notice days work for bookers in lincoln NEVER AGAIN
13 hour day about 20 km total driven 6 drops only at two did i get any kind of help
the other 4 were cornershops " oh no we cant help you i cannot leave the counter " attitude, vertually wanted to me to put stuff on shelves and price them ■■■■■■■ heavy cages up kerbs five or seven to a shop ( very hot day as well ) i was just about losing my mind and temper on the last drop then started getting lip from one of the retarded locals about parking i could have happily knocked his block off ( normally mr nice guy me ) when i got back to bookers they had the cheek to ask where had i been …! well sod that

They had a point TBH - If you’ve only driven 20km in a 13 hr day then you’ve essentially taken the other 12 hours to do the deliveries (call it 10 hours to allow plenty of time for breaks, vehicle checks etc). That’s an hour and 40 minutes for each delivery (or roughly 15 minutes per cage, even if all of them had 7 cages, which they apparently did not).

also they would not allow cages in shop and i was " Required " to empty cages into stock rooms not just a drop and swap
and i was waiting at least 90 mins for the vehicle to be loaded before hand belive me i didnt stop ■■■■■■■ and dumping all day
20 km was around lincoln only. you are more than welcome to have a go if you think you can do quicker job of it

It’s a love or hate job,I’ve done it for 10 years now…I enjoy the physical side of it keeps me young (ish).

Muckster isn’t being racist at all. I used to work for P&H and the majority of our customers were Asian.

I found them to be the most bone idle and pig ignorant bunch of people I have encountered. That’s based on MY experience. And I really don’t care if you think that is racist or not.

We had an unwritten rule on the flour that anywhere where they were ignorant, unhelpful and most importantly, didn’t give you anything; We’d buy any food or drink from their nearest competitor, and make a vocal point about just “nipping ofer the road.”
The places that struggled to make a living were usually the ones that had the nicest staff. Those of Persian origins tended to have a ■■■ break in shifts, often staring at us as we delivered, when not leaving junk lying about for us to trip over.

There’s a few jobs I won’t do dozy

  1. Shop delivery. ie Co-op Bookers Palmer & Harvey etc.
  2. Anything remotely that looks like 1 above :grimacing:

A few bakeries like that, for some reason they want you to work harder and not smarter. It’s as if they believe they’re getting more for their money.
The EE are welcome to these skivvy jobs and deserve whatever they can get paid for doing so. If they hit the forecourt roof of these places too then it’s a bonus.

And mine in the majority of cases. It’s an observation based on experience, nothing more…

My experience on this matter leads me to the same opinion as the both of you.

Must leap on the “Racist” bandwagon here.
Used to deliver to corner shop plumber’s merchants regularly, mainly Asian, handballing up to 5/6 pallets of boilers and radiators :smiling_imp:
There were usually 3 or 4 strapping young lads stood behind the counter, doing Jack ■■■■■■.
“Sorry mate, too busy to help at the moment” was frequently heard.
“OK mate,I’ll take the load back” was my standard reply.
Cue instant activity from said strapping young lads

Is this from a cash and carry or to cash and carry’s?

If its the former then as said already, lots of corner shops in a rigid. Sometimes drop and go, sometimes drop and wait while THEY strip the pallets/cages (unless its changed since I did it).

If its from the RDC then its usually one hits to a cash and carry, all pallets tipped by FLT. There is also chef direct from RDCs which is cinemas, kitchens etc and is not a pleasant job. Deliver to storerooms and bring the empties back

Haven’t got a clue scanny, all I know is it’s driving for bookers in skeggy ( or area )

Anyone on here working at the Colchester depot?

Seen them advertising but only based on a 38 hr week, is there overtime to get the hours up?
How many drops on average?

Thanks
