Steveo1, if that is laughter directed at me then you really do need to look at your life, hard. Not as it concerns me. I have enough of a sense of humour to be able to be amused at my own foolhardiness and to know better than to do it again. I suspect you would try to find a way of blaming others, should our positions be reversed.
No Gavin, I didn’t get a message. Not sure why that would be.
Anyway, I intend to be back at work in another week or so if possible. I will be approaching KSW and seeing if they have a regular run I can take on for a few weeks so I can set up a schedule for physiotherapy. I have been investigating the whole separated shoulder thing, and it looks like it is a case of waiting for it to heal on its own.
It’s funny. I think the hardest part will be the parking brake more than the shifting. I reckon the gear lever is in a good place as my arm will be in a natural position most of the time, but the parking brake involves some movement. Silly what we think about, isn’t it?
Hi BTG My pm’s seem to disapear into the ether lately. I will do it in code :- spanners e-mail address is :- ‘his name with no spaces @ the company he works for with no spaces .co.uk’ can you work it out? (all small case) If you don’t have any success pm me your e-mail add.
If you are unable to apply the park brake, it looks like you will be putting in some long hours, hope you got 2 log books Sorry !
Hope it does not hurt too much Gavin
Got it, thanks. I presume you mean the company that has the name on the trailers though…
The long hours will also probably occur because I think that getting between the seats could be interesting and getting out of bed is no real fun at the moment, so I may as well just keep going. I can run at least 2, as it is all loose leaf in a ring binder.
Fabulous works of fiction…
An update of sorts, and a recommendation.
I am all for doing whatever I can to get things sorted, so yesterday saw me trying reflexology… you know, feet.
I am not kidding, the guy was popping bones in my feet and I felt it in my sternum!! It was weird as can be. After that, he beat the snot out of my shoulder and back, then my neck, then the shoulder again. I have bruising on my shoulder from where he worked it so hard, yet it wasn’t, and still isn’t, as sore as it had been.
When I walked out of there, I wasn’t convinced that it was worth it, but I went to the shop and got the necessaries, including a 10lb bag of spuds which I carried into the house at arms length- with my arm held out in front of me and without pain.
I know 10lbs is not much, but 2 weeks ago I couldn’t carry a 20oz coffee in that arm with a sling, and yesterday morning it was misery just with its own weight. And this morning I am sat here without painkillers on board, and feeling pretty good. I have made an appointment for next Thursday, and if I feel as much better again as I do today then I am going right back to work.
So, if you are in discomfort or pain, try it. I was skeptical. I am a convert now…
Physio is always better than drugs . Doctors give you drugs to save them money & time. You could try splashing about in a swim pool ;that’s great physio . Get well, Bob. I thought the parking brake on them rigs was a push button on the dash ?
It is, Harry, but on the Pete it is tucked way down under the dash and I will have to twist to get to it. The ribs protest a little when I do that and the shoulder protests a lot…
I think that just shifting gear will act as physio of a kind as it will keep the arm moving. I will be taking the brat swimming in town in the week because I want to try it, but it is still early days really, and there is not really enough movement in the shoulder to swim yet.
I drove from Cadiz to Folkstone with a dislocated R.shoulder in a L ■■■■■■ without knowing it until I got an x-ray in the UK . At the end of the day nobody takes care of you unless you take care of yourself.

Btw .Leggets from Woolpit on the A14 has gone bust . Good old crowd & brilliant down to earth guv’nors . I pulled in there once with a container to do a local removal & asked directions .The boss had never heard of the ‘close.’ But he took me all over the village in his 4x4 until he found it. Smashing bloke.
Hi Bob did you manage to work out Spanner’s e-mail address?
Gavin
I sent a message to spanners name at the big company dot co dot uk and haven’t had a reply, but it may have gone to his spam box or he may not have chosen to reply…
Funny you should ask. I was just wondering about it today.
Just an update really.
I went back to work on Tuesday. A few local runs this week and should be back on long haul next week.
The shoulder gets pretty stiff through the day and the ribs are still miserable, but I had a choice of sitting at home or sitting in the truck.
It is going well and I am very pleased…
Well done doggy, you can’t keep a good man down for long
