Bluetooth Earpiece, what's decent-how much?

As per title…looking to buy one but almost broke my brain at looking at all kind of different models, and prices.

A friend of mine recommended me Plantronics Voyager 5200 but bloody hell, £120? I’m sure you pay top dollar for all bells and whistles…but for now, I’m not that rich.

Should I get my credit card out?

Keep your eyes open on amazon and ebay, every now and again you can find returned/refurb Plantronics earpieces, indeed you might find one of the rare over the head versions (bit like McDonalds drive through ops wear) that didn’t get sold here in any number but did in the USA, these are the dogs ■■■■■■■■.
PL is by far the best i’ve found, long battery life which the better versions tell you how long when you switch on, mine lasts circa 12+ hours talktime between charges, never get any trouble connecting to your phone, nor does your phone ‘lose’ it requiring you to re-establish connection every now and again which is what cheap makes have a habit of doing, plenty of volume and the better versions are background noise cancelling.
Earpads and the general built quality is high, copies tend to become brittle and break after a while, and they tend to drop off your phone’s radar too.
Mine should have been around £140 new, i paid £45 refurb unit with full warranty which was as new and hasn’t given a moments trouble.

Yes I’ve got a Plantronics, from Halfords £90. I needed it to pair to two phones.

Had a cheaper one before but the issue was wind noise or external noise noted by the person on the other end. Plantronics pretty good, worth the dosh. You get a good little adapter and also a short charging wire which means your cab looks less like the sound desk at a heavy rock gig with wires everywhere.

One thing you should note is that such charges only work off 12v so if driving a Captros/MAN get a dropper and socket gang (and your truck then does start to look like the sound desk at a Stones gig.)

Do people still use them, makes them look like a Borg drone.

All our motors have Bluetooth,

I’ve found PLT Voyager Legend (lower end model to 5200) refurbished for £50, so will give it a try. YouTube reviews and e-net comparison looks OK…so will see how that goes.

Regarding cabs Bluetooth…i do have one, but once on the call, my Road Lords satnav gets muted. While I’m new driver, I don’t fancy missing my turns and head towards low bridge.

I only use mine as and when, I dont ride round with it in permanently like some dicks.

I paid 25 quid for a Jabra 20 and not had any problems with it.

If you do want one stuck in your head permanently pay more

If you can’t navigate without a satnav shouting directions at you, maybe you shouldn’t be on the phone whilst driving? No phone call is that important, it can’t wait until You are parked.

I’ve used lots of the bloody things, some good, some bad, some cheap, some expensive, but all either broke or lost. :unamused:
I’ve only just recently started using my phone through the truck bluetooth…only because I  finally sussed out how to pair it to my phone eventually  plus I can make a call via the dashboard and button on the wheel…finally thing tech savvy.a last
I would not go back to earpieces now

I have a Parrot mini kit, but stopped using it as it kept reacting to the voice of the DJ on the radio and random dialling my contacts.
The event that sealed its fate was when the DJ introduced the song “Dont stand so close to me" by the Police. The next thing I knew was when the operator said "Hello whats your emergency?”

Thought you were going to say it kept repeating what the DJ said.

I personally use the fm bluetooth transmitter which just plugs into your cigarette lighter and I don’t need to worry about charging it.

Whichever bluetooth headset you go for just make sure the talk time if sufficient for you. They all vary from 4 hours to 8 hours some even claim 12 hours.

Your better off looking at standard Bluetooth headsets, not the ones made for mobile phones, very overpriced and poor sound quality you sound like your in a goldfish bowl.
Look for gaming ones.
These work well, so well that they cut out the background noise they don’t realise your not holding the phone to your ear.

Sorry but one of these … often coupled up with a nice crisp , freshly ironed orange hi Viz vest. Just screams bosses puppet boy to me. I find em ridiculously embarrassing, especially the ones they cover 3 quarters of your face. maybe I just care what people think about me too much though.
