Got an interview assesment for emergency fire crew driver next week to cover the strikes if more go ahead. Typical stuff would anyone know what to expect it doesnt say anything about fitness tests or anything and also would you go suited and booted or smart casual. Thanks everyone
Well done mate, I know nothing about what you would be doing, but I’d defo say suited and booted with shiny shoes lol Good luck
Whilst I don’t agree with what you’re doing, I do wish you the best of luck with it. Definitely go suited & booted

Cheers pal and thats what i was thinking just that turned up to many interviews in a suit and every one else is wearing normal clothes dont half make you feel like a pillock
Try the public reference library, there maybe books about the exams and tests that the fire brigade do for training.Suit is best mate.Good luck.
I would imagine all you would be doing is driving but not with lights and sirens unless you are properly trained but I doubt that will happen. You may get shown some of the basics about how to attach hoses etc but again without the correct training you will not be able to do the job properly.
They will probably have people already trained to do the main tasks but I would imagine it will be a bit of an eye opener if you are successful. Good luck.
Strike probably will not happen.
Take a bat to keep the totty a bay, chicks love firemen ,me m8 is a fireman and looks like a bulldog licking ■■■■ off a nettle in his uniform he is a changed bloke
I personally wouldn’t break a picket line by doing somebody else’s job. Let’s hope nothing serious happens whilst the firefighters are striking. Good luck and stay clear of any picket lines!

So for all those quick to say “don’t break a picket line etc” will you not ring for help if your house’s on fire?

well said
I’m sure in past firefighter strikes emergency 999 calls are still answered, it the cat stuck up a tree jobs that get told to f off.
I’m sure even Arthur Scargill would call off a strike to save a family burning in a house!

Or their ■■■■■ is stuck up a tree
In the old days the Army where made to fill the gap if the firemen went on strike, now they recruit people who volunteer to fill the gap.
Make of it what you will.
I had applied to work on the docks in Liverpool before last dockers strike and never heard anything a few months into the strike I was offered my Dads job, to rub it in I was registered at the same address as my Dad at the time and he received the sack at the same time…needless to say I never took the job.
Ok, so which room are your children in ?
We are going in, and we are going to try our best to get them out.
Whilst we are in there we are going to take one hell of a hammering from the heat.
Our fire kit will protect us, (To a degree) but that doesn’t mean our bodies will not be put through an exhausting and brutal heat induced shock.
Knowing there are people in there who need rescuing will give us the extra strength needed to fight through the fire to get to them, through the pain.
Whole body burning, blood pressure massively increasing, sweating profusely as the body tries to cool itself.
Breathing rate off the scale and heart pounding to cope with the stresses our bodies are enduring.
Can this type of bodily punishment possibly be taken without consequence later in life of some form. (You be the jury).
But your family is in there, and we willing to suffer serious injury or die trying if needs be to get them out alive.
We are young and healthy and our bodies can endure more punishment compared to a 60 year olds body.
Yet this is what the government wants, 60 year old Firefighters.
Who will be sacked if they can’t reach the fitness standards set by them.
Upon sacking the pension they have paid into all their working career will not be paid to them for a minimum of 7 years.
The media is a powerful tool and the corrupt government has them in their pocket.
I invite any single one of the MP’s (Especially the 55 to 60 year olds) to come down from their ivory towers and try to wear breathing apparatus in a simulated house fire in our training facilities.
Where the temperatures are a measly 300 degrees Celsius.
Just a bit hotter than the blast you get in the face when you open the oven door.
(It would not be very nice to climb inside that oven would it?)
Not like the 1000+ degrees a house fire hits where the pain really sets in and the body truly starts to suffer.
We are not greedy, we pay a large portion of our own wage into the pension. Literally hundreds of pounds a month.
We just want our rightly earned pension when we retire at an age which reflects what we have put our bodies through to protect the public.
We are backed into a corner and we have to fight the governments’ unreasonable proposals to protect ourselves and the public we serve.
Please share this with others, as social media is not yet controlled by the government and their rich chums.
We WANT to rescue your family, We WILL move heaven and earth trying, We WANT to be fit and healthy and able to do so, We WILL try to always be at the standard required.
We WON’T all be able to do that.
We only WANT our rightful pension we have paid into if we can no longer reach the standard.
We DON’T want sacking and left on the scrap pile.
Thanks for reading and please share the TRUTH.
We don’t want to strike!
We joined to help and protect the public!
We are being left with no option!
Thankyou. UK FIREFIGHTERS
Would NEVER try to break their strike - and have no respect for those who would…

Well said that man.
Maybe its my age, maybe i’m just an obnoxious prick. But i read a scab wanting to know how to dress for an interview. And i can’t quite fathom out which is worse, someone who is going to be trusted to fire and rescue help not knowing how he should dress, him telling everyone he’s going to scab, or he thinks people maybe in the job might help him with advice. God help us !!!

Nah, it can’t be because you are an obnoxious prick, Mike Cos that would mean that I am too
true hero’s.
Disgusting what the government are doing. I’m sure 70%of people half there age couldn’t pass the fitness test. Even 60 is too old for what they have gone through. Pay them what they deserve.
