Blue Arrow Recruitment

Any one out there any knowledge and information about this company .

I signed up with Bridgwater branch a month or so ago.

Still no work.

Possibly just an isolated case, thought they didn’t seem to know their arse from their elbow.

Dean

I was with them last year…

No regular work, as they don’t seem to specialise in drivers.

When some work does come up, it’s something crap like £8ph 40 miles away for an odd day or two!

I got the “inactive” letter in January, so called it a day, and asked for my P45. I won’t be “in limbo” - I’m either still on the books, or I’m gone.

The only good thing about them is they do PAYE, and Langdons (Blue Arrow is their main agency?) were a pretty good firm to work for. I still had to commute to Dover to get it though, but the top dollar for weekends was worth it - just!

Bridgewater is Langdon’s head office I think, and a fancy new depot has been opened near Redditch I believe. I’d say around 75% of the work I was getting last year from Blue Arrow was Langdons night trunks to places like Redditch, Luton, Peterborough, Crick, & Andover/Fleet swaps.

Never done driving work for them, but I was a security guard through them back in 1996 (I think it was) for the 2nd runway at Manchester Airport.

No comments really, they provided a coach from the centre to the job, paid weekly

I tryed to get a Job as Chef a few Year ago. But im eating them too much.
Know some there. Seems OK

Not an isolated case, i signed up to the bridgwater blue arrow late last year got nothing but a load of lies and then my emails ignored. Of course i was 19 at the time. They made up a load of rubbish about sorting something with stobarts for me, put more effort in to lying to me than finding me work for sure, well intill they got bored and stopped replying.

Of course you branch could be different.

Phil

Agencies that don’t specialise in drivers seem to have the practice of only offering the very final dregs of work.

Work passed over by other agencies, it then falls to this one.

It’s naff hourly rate, short notice (less than an hour sometimes!) and usually only for an odd midweek day.
The senior drivers on the books turned it down, so it falls to the newer recruits.
New recruit says “No”, so they don’t get asked again regarding doing anything else.
If new recruit pesters them every day with phone calls morning, afternoon & last thing, they might get 2 days a week out of them like I did. :frowning:

'Yanno, I think most of them are cut from the same cloth, they talk a good job but lie so well they should be in Westminster.

I signed on with an agency last year, a frachise of a national chain. This was before I took my class 2. On the phone the guy said he was stacked out with 7.5 tonne work so I went and registered.

No work came my way.

After many phonecalls and visits I was told to go get the class 2 because he had some great local clients who would take me on no problem, one client was a national dairy with a local distribution centre. Promised me I’d be on rigids before my licence came back from Swansea.

No Work.

He told me than that once I’d got my class 1 he could get me lots of work trunking for the big firms, temp to perm. So once I’d got the class 1 I went back only to be told the usual “It’s really quiet and everyone wants 2 years experience blah blah”

I’ve been to and phoned pretty much every agency in the county who have all promised great things. Right now I have a list of local coach firms to start calling and go back to my old life.

I can now spot when an agency bod is lying, thier lips are moving.

I have been with them since January 2011, been kept working everyday at the same company. It’s the Leeds branch I am with, their not exactly the most clued up lot but as long as I am kept busy I don’t really have to deal with them that much as I am constantly driving for the same firm. Don’t get an O/T rate, flat money for all hours.

On the basis Blue Arrow was bought and sold by so many companies, it would be fair to say that their client base has been raped by every owning company they had. Therefore leaving them with nothing.

For a very start Manpower owned them for a shot period taking nearly every driving contract with them when they spat them out the other end.

Manpower around here have got bugger all except Hiab for £8.50ph.

I signed up last April, and have yet to get my first shift out of them!

(I would have had some Royal Mail from them perhaps, but being VR’d means I can’t go back on agency with them for the time being.) :frowning:

All in all, I’ve signed up with 7 agencies 5 of which have yet to give me any work! :frowning:

Andyh71 please don’t tell me you got a class 2 then 1 because because blue arrow told you to

Blue Arrow do have a Driving division, but whether it opperates in every branch Im unsure. I have done a lot of work for them in the past, and did around 5-6 years on PAYE with them. AFAIK they are the current prefered agency for DHL atm. But I understand they have re-tendered and lost the contract to someone else which is why I enquired about another company recently on these hallowed msg boards, and Im yet to delve deeper into this mystery.
Blue Arrow are currently owned by the Impellam group who are based in Luton

No, it was my decision mate. Always wanted to do it but it took me until last year to get the cash together to go the whole way to clas 1.

I was doing it anyway, I just get a tad hacked off by agencies sprouting bull.

My mate next door is a highly qualified I.T. specialist who is also out of work, apparently the agencies in his sector are just as full of it so it’s not just us getting lied to.

I first came across Blue Arrow around 12 years ago, they took over BRS Taskforce, or BRS taskforce became Blue Arrow something like that.
Blue Arrow Recruitment Ltd appears on companies house to have bareley traded a year and struck off. One of its outgoing directors (Peter Valaitis) gives a nice talk on how to work 16 hours a day, he’s Managing Director of Duport, who specialise in helping businesses get started…

Blue Arrow Recruitment Solutions Ltd has a very chequred history of name changes and being dormant.

As their website shows a video of them saying they get in bed with the client. Recruitment was never an industry i considered for getting some action !!! But thats what the guy says

ADR network are the new preferred supplier, well that’s who we were told to use, but we still have pertemps guys in.

I worked for blue arrow for a couple of months last year through the Newcastle branch. They were fine, putting me into dhl, nampak & lescost all for £9 ph basic. Got plenty work with them usually from Thursday onwards and they seem to be ok. My mate works at lescost in Washington though and he says the last few agency lads in are from a company called best connection based in scumberland, yes I’ve spelt that correctly.

i signed on with the bellshill one… the guy there has donre it all, seen it all, but couldn’t fit behind the wheel now… lied about jobs, lied about the rates… payed short… .

ADR NETWORK are the preferred supplier now but because they have under cut so many agencies on so many contracts they cant get enough drivers so they still use the old drivers that were on the contracts and do some deal with the origanal agency
