Blue Arrow Agency

Afternoon all,

Whilst on a quick break in work (still a chef at the min :/)

I nipped into the blue arrow agency in liverpool,
They were really busy so the receptionist took my details etc they know that I’m
Doing c+e in September.

So he said hell get the woman who knows best about Hgv industry to ring me up, does anyone
Know what blue arrow are like? Do they have regular opportunities and of course my age 18 will this penalise me as im young?

Thanks in advance

Probably varies from office to office but i’ll give you my experience- every fortnight in the three months since i signed with them i get a phone call or a text asking about my availability for the coming fortnight. No offers of work have so far been forthcoming!
Sign to them by all means -it won’t do you any harm- but i’ve found them a waste of time so far.

Hi i registered with the bridgwater branch when i was 19 with my class 1. All i ever got was a load of BS from them about sorting some work with stobarts. But your branch may be different you never know.

Anyways best of luck,
Phil

Bridgwater branch are useless. Don’t know how they maintain that plush office if they don’t get anyone any work

Bellshill branch haven’t came up trumps with me. Big fat zero work. Other agencies I’ve tried won’t even put me on their books.

Try ADR Network or Milestone(Mostly Stobart work) they usually pretty good at giving new passes a go. Good luck.

Alright thanks is there a number I can ring milestone website has no number I think

Milestoneops.com jobline is either 020 7788 4880 or 0800 1389040.

ADR Network, go to website and click on South West jobs. They have offices in Gloucester,Bridgewater,Avonmouth,Magor and Bristol. Will be mostly Tesco,Morrisons and NFT work. Good Luck.

BA here in Coventry were pretty useless too. They had my details and kept offering work to have it cancelled at the last minute by them for some other reason. The only reason I registered with them was for some class 1 work. The only other work offered was vans, like Yodel with 50 plus drops a day!

I tried blue arrow in liverpool, got nothing but the whole run around of two years experience…

got in touch with adecco in chester and been on class 2 work m-f every week, almost 9 quid an hour, and they do a scheme called travel plus, which means I pay near to no tax, which sounds dodgy but is all legit, and they took me on with no experience. They have always paid my wages on time, and correctly(shocking for an agency, I know), and are always helpful whenever I have a question about anything and get stuff sorted right away… And they said they have class 1 work goin… might be worth you phoning up…

Also you might wanna give driverhire a call, they have an office in liverpool, although I registered with them, I haven’t done any work for them because of other commitments with my old job, and this new one… but they have been pestering me to work for them, so they’ve got hours goin for you… only 7 quid an hour, but if you need that experience…

+1.

Both have quoted 2 years crap to me just after Christmas when I was looking.

Must have moved the goalposts recently then. Don’t know alot about Milestone, but ADR at one time were keen to give new drivers a go. Can only assume that they’ve maybe tightened things up because of too many accidents/incidents involving new drivers. Will flag up anything l see by firms/agencies giving newly qualified drivers a go.

Have checked ADR’s jobs section and there are a few jobs that mention 2yrs experience but there are others that dont,so l’m assumming that on those jobs they’ll give newbees a go. Click on the job details which will open up and tell you wether that job requires you to have 2yrs exp or not. All the Milestone jobs mention 2yrs exp. As Stobarts runs its own driving school having no exp shouldn’t be a problem. They advertise for full time and casual. Have aword,it can’t do any harm can it.

That’s true I have a few mates doing the apprenticeship at stobarts, and I know a few of my dads mates who work there full time,

I actually wouldn’t mind working for them plus the Widnes site is 10 mins drive from my house, there a few companies local to me like;

Stobarts,
Downtown,
Jaguar&land rover,
DHL,
TNT,
Royal mail
Etc!

Just need to go around to them speak to the transport managers when I pass c&e no point going round now I’ve only recently passed cat C havnt fond CPC yet either.

ADR in my area were asking for 18 months experience plus been driving consecutively for 6 months.

Blue Arrow Bridgwater seemed keen when I phoned and asked for my CV, I sent it and heard nothing. I have since phoned them twice and sent chase up emails…no work or contact at all.
ADR network have not responded to my CV or emails despite frequent spam about being desperate for C+E drivers.

I have had 95% of my work from Driverhire at Taunton. Very good service and friendly staff/management…in fact i’m often having to turn work away
