Bloody thieves!

now a bit of background, i keep the same lorry all the time and take care of it cleaning inside and out. anything wrong with i know :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

so today gets to calais sitting in the queue for the dfds 1530 to dover.

i parked on the ferry no problem go upstairs for the crossing, on arrival i go back downstairs and when see’ing my lorry straight away i notice offside wide angle mirror back is missing :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:    FFS i expect someone has hit it, i look all over under my lorry and the ones around it :imp: :imp: i cant find it. im one of the last off and when all the other lorries have gone i get out and look, nowhere :imp:

the deckhands want to know what im up to so i point at the missing bit and one of them shruggs his shoulders saying it was missing when i got on board :imp: :imp: :imp: this sets me off in a rage that he accuses me off lying :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: typical bloody ferry crew. it was on when i went off as i would have seen it missing, i mean the blasted mirror is right beside my window ffs. that was it he got a rightmouth full of abuse the bloody lying ■■■■■

later on i stopped for a break and on closer inspection there is a screwdriver mark where it has been prissed off.

:imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp:

You’re not alone JD. I had the passenger side main mirror cover robbed off my Volvo on the P&O spirit last year :imp: Got the same disinterested [zb] from the crew.
The gaffer had his rear beacons robbed on a different crossing too :open_mouth:
Luckily he was heading home as he was convoi ex and would been in the [zb]

Not even a reply to the email sent about the incidents :unamused: Just another reason we shy away from P&O now. They’re making Sea Chance look good these days on all counts from things like this to cleanliness, crew attitudes and standards in general IMHO

Now they should be introduce the cctv cameras in ferry decks? or have they already have one?

Well betz, could you imagine the commotion if I blocked the ramp till they got the CCTV. That would be me and my lorry banned from dfds.

Aye true! :unamused: then tell your boss - no more to use DFDS service! i know it is cheaper than others! no choice really! no win!

I used to say, other people on the ferry hit my mirrors when I had broken them. Just saying!

there are cameras on the decks, but they only show the bow and stern doors. pointy end, and flat end.
they don’t keep recordings for long, just for the duration of the crossing.

I know that’s people think, and at first I thought someone had hit it. I looked about but it was gone, only later when I had a good look there is a screwdriver mark.

I’ve had an entire set of trailer rear lights stolen on a ferry before.

loads of mirror backs in between the 2 weigh bridge’s at Dover were the flip flops have knocked them off on the posts . just look for one the same as yours jd

It used to be bulbs and light lenses being taken off the 90`s,off of tilt trailers that were left unattented. Some drivers would wire them up so no thief could pull them off.

You don’t have a lot of come back I’m afraid, if someone has nicked it, they will have already had you marked out whilst on the dock.

What ■■■■■■ me off with the loading crew, they don’t give a crap about the lorry, they expect you to run over chains on the deck and when they reverse you in, they have you so tight you cannot get out without scratching doors.

I had one time when reversing onto a ferry with my mirrors folded in, they were waving me back, until I felt a bump. When I looked there were two perfectly punched holes in the back dish of my tank, the bloke watching me had been on the phone and didn’t blow his whistle when I got close to an unaccompanied trailer

Phone - drop kick - splash !

.

covers of my spotlights,(low level)and my fn wipers same trip ,truck in front lost bulbs& lenses.
just a normal trip to cairnryan in the 80s.
jimmy

probably the loading crew floggin spare parts off my merc. i had a mirror back nicked and one come all by itself on the autobahn just in the right place too a couple of hundred meters from an exit ramp where them BMW drivers come tearing down the hard shoulder well that one had to avoid my mirror back
