Bloody cheek at sainsburys

i think theres a difference here, if you work for a big company they in 99% of cases always take the side of the tescos, morr, sains of this world,so if you want to keep your job you have to comply,it wouldnt bother me, drugs or drink test, but id make them wait more than a few hours for there urine sample,
this thread also reminds me of alot of our drivers, what there not going to do and what they havent done ,the next thing you know there doing it :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: ,DONT DO WHAT I DO,DO WHAT I SAY springs to mind here            .

Pull up to the gatehouse …
Oh look theres a barrier…(memo to self, check barrier position before proceeding) :unamused:
Book in at gatehouse …
Get back in truck … (Remind self about barrier before prceeding)
check barrier position … (if up… proceed)
Check mirrors, check for obstruction, check barriers etc …
release parking brake and pull forward

Whats so difficult about that??
No barriers should be broken, and no tests or arguements where required
The OP either needs to go to specsaver, or pay more attention :unamused:

youre right in a way,but i find when youre getting up at 23.00/00.00/00.30 and doing 14/15 hr shifts after a while it takes its toll on you,you make silly mistake you wouldnt normally, you habve to think twice, check 10 times,i know youll get the you shouldnt drive if youre knackered know it all [not you] but in the real world you just have to keep going and thats why silly mistakes happen, weve all done them[well the normal run of drivers, not the super trucker brigade],cant really see the problem,no-ones dead, just repace the barrier.
n.b ive never hit a barrier, but ive pulled forward ,then had that horrible feeling its not up, stopped checked,o.k,by the grace of god as they say

A few yrs ago a security guy from Birmingham got 6 weeks for holding a truck on site by refusing to open the barrier. The police may not be interested, but they HAVE to act if you insist.

I can’t see what offence he commited to get time inside, unless he had a lot of previous, He could only prevent the vehicle from leaving, not the driver, so why would he get imprisoned for blocking a vehicle on private land (a civil offence) :unamused:
I would love to see a link to this incident, it does however smack of a MMTM TBH :unamused:

Would like to see written evidence of this, as it would come in VERY handy.

When that doughnut shaped research building was built at the Atomic labs at Harwell, a security guard wouldn’t let any of McKennas wagons leave unless they were sheeted. At the time, all the wagons had tie down sheets and as there was no platform, the drivers refused to get onto the lorries. Jobsworth security guard refused to let them leave so a driver called the police and made a complaint of being held against his will. It worked and they were never bothered again

I have an inkling it was at Dudley or one of the smaller RDC’s like that somewhere around Brum, I know it’s somewhere I used to go occasionally and it was one of their staff that told me.
If you are in charge of a truck. you need to get the truck out, just being able to walk out doesn’t seem to make it any lesser crime in the view of the police.
I am sure of this as I was threatened with ‘Illegal imprisonment’, when some scumbag. thieving ■■■■■ bar-stewards moved onto some land and we had a JCB digging a ditch around them which would have stopped them getting any more vehicles in and also stop them getting their pick-ups and caravans out to go on their various stealing sprees. We were told we would be arrested for illegal imprisonment if we completed the ditch by both the PC at the site and the Chief Constable of Staffordshire force over the phone.
