That is a very smart little van. We were going to buy a Leyland 2 tonner in 1964 and have Marsden build the body, but instead chose BMC FG 2 tonner integral Marsden instead DPT100B . Was just as well because a local Lemonade factory Grays Soft Drinks, the owners who my Grandfather & father had known since about 1910 bought 20 and they were complete failures, breaking down almost daily, and although modern looking for their day didn’t last long. Thankfully they warned my father off

Hi Carl,
What type of engine would have been in this model Leyland back then ?
The two guys in this photo that Steve (JAKEY) posted working for Lalonde went on to run two very successful company’s themselfs…Roy Fox and Pete Langdon went on to be successful managers with Pickfords…then went on to start there own Companies…Roy Fox went on to start Fox The Mover Cwmbran and Pete Langdon went on to start Langdons of Bristol…they were both founder members of Britannia Movers and part of the group for many years…but both later left the group…sadly both no longer with us.
Roy Fox
Pete Langdon

Hi Carl,
What type of engine would have been in this model Leyland back then ?
They used a Standard diesel engine, the rear axle was the same split cased one as used on BMC FGK’s etc.
Pete.

Hi Carl,

Hi despite the badge on the front, this lorry was built, not by Leyland in Leyland, but by Standard – Triumph in Coventry. It shared much with the Standard Atlas van. Here is some details of the engine

Thats intresting to read about the Leyland 2 tonner being an unreliable motor Carl. I wonder if it was teathing problems that were sorted out.
Does anyone know if it was a short lived model as i dont ever remember seeing one as a kid, although i probably did .But you mention the BMC FG 2 tonner
and there were loads of those about when i was growing up.
