Not long after passing my test I went to Scotbeef at Glasgow. Pulled in and done a pretty much perfect blindside reverse between 2 vehicles, more by luck than anything else! I felt pretty clever until I realised I’d left the back doors shut! But that whole place seems like it was designed so the one way system is the wrong way round for some reason.
I thought they were all designed like that.

It amazes me seeing a shunter reversing in either way, no messing zooms in and that’s it! Quicker than I can find reverse!Anyway, not done much apart from bay 1 at Alfreton Coop?? Anyone done that■■? Took me ages but got it in without hitting anything and actually lined up good for the bay!
With the truck on the bay the unit is pointing at sky a wall in front of you with what looks like steps filled in with concrete.
Our night shunters can ‘Chuck’ trailers into gaps, in the dark, really quickly too !
We just end up trying to get all the damaged fixed in the morning, before we can leave the yard. Lol.
(It would be Funny, if it wasn’t Laughable)
Martin you don’t work for NWT do you that seems to be how our night drivers reverse, still trying to get one of my mirrors repaired
In my very short time as a trucker I’ve done a few blindsides - only where there’s 2 or more spaces though - firstly cos it was convenient, and secondly for the practice. I did them fine… though my normal reversing’s still very hit & miss, I find the secret to a perfect back-up is having absolutely nobody watching! I got stuck down a dead end the other night, had to do a 164-point turn to get out - all the drivers parked up the road were asleep. Anyway I did it eventually, got to my drop and took 4 shunts to get onto a straight & roomy bay! People were there…
I get mirrors full of stacks Robin lol. End up leaning out of the door

No, I work for a WH Barleys in Milton Keynes, the yard is a bit dark, with very little lighting, I watched one of the shunters ‘trying’ to park a trailer up the other evening & it was either all or nothing, no tickling the throttle for this boy, foot flat to the mat in the pitch black.
Glad I’d parked my wagon well away from him.
I do a blind side every night ok at night / early morning never anyone there plenty room 1 or 2 cat c parked next to where I am nobody there have done it in 1 but normally at least 1 shunt sometimes use the space to pull round onto good side
cypry0, this wasn’t you was it?
No mate not me, thats before i worked there, and I’ve left since.
Its a classic though, we had a lot of piggy places in London. The driver had more patience than me, i would of been having words with the ■■■■ with a horn.
Saying that it didn’t look that bad to get into. Same truck though.
