Blackwall Tunnel Height Change

Who knew that the Northbound tunnel (confusingly referred to as the southern approach by traffic totty) has had the height restriction altered from 13’ 4" to 13’ (4m)?

It’s always been 4m

This is true, but the Imperial height was always given as 13’ 4" and I presume they have altered this to 13’, in any event 4 metres is 13’ 1.44" so both are wrong.

Unfortunately the tunnel operator has had the wrong signs up for at least 30 years. :open_mouth:

4 metres = 13.1233596 feet

2.8 m = 9.18635 feet

it didnt matter how high it was when i went through with a 60ft flat years ago, moved over a bit to take a wide swing on one of the corners and one of them evil dangly things took the top clean off the airstack on my 112 scania :open_mouth: i,d only been in the job 3 weeks so i ran all the way to kates cabin before i dared stop to survey the damage

nice mix of imperial and metric…4m = 13’ 1.44…dosent make sense…now i like metric but i also like imperial…but which is better

Yeah noticed this last week on approach to the tunnel as my wagon is 13ft,but confusingly the signs further down the A2 and M25 still say 13ft4…

by my calculations nowt has changed…4m high…13’4"…

It has. At the tunnel it is now signed 13 feet which is why I posted in the first place!

'kin hell! Do summat about that picture!

has the road been resurfaced recently…someone put the wrong sign up there me thinks.
