Reading the thread about Stobart drivers, which is now getting out of context It got to the difference between posting about white men and black men and someone sugested that if they used the term ‘Black man’ instead of ‘White man’ the post would be deleated and blocked. I have realised how things are so different in the UK to the USA. I work with a great percentage of other races and white man are very much in the minority but we are all great mates and it’s as if there is no difference in colour or creed. Being raised in the UK all my life I have been used to believing t an insult to use the term ‘Black’ as opposed to ‘Coloured’ and even now when I am with one of my friends in conversation and talking about a new driver or someone other for instance and my mate asks me to describe that man, I hesitate to say “He’s Black” and actually avoid mentioning his skin colour for fear of embarrasing my friend, eventually when he see’s I am worried he will actually say “Was it a black guy ?” then I will answer yes. The guys here all know how hard it is for me to use that word in front of them because of my upbringing so they understand and put the words in my mouth for me…
It seems it is an insult here to say ‘coloured’ but not ‘black’. You are breaking the law to use the ‘N’ word unless you are black then you can use it all day long to each other. I would NEVER use it.
Strange change of attitude over the years.

This shows how out of touch you really are, Pat Hasler.
Only old women born prior to 1940 still use the term “coloured”.
There is one hell of a difference. People used to pay good money to get a good garden boy or housekeeper who was black or coloured. Stobart doesn’t!
I lived in Africa and the local beer was called Julbrew but I always drank frozen Guinness, locally known as Black Boy. The only protest was from the toubab tourists!

Yep, black people are black, white people are white. Neither of them are blue, green, purple, orange, which is “coloured”
And there was me thinking this was going to be a discussion about whiskey
We went into Starbucks and I asked for a white coffee & black coffee, the girl, said, “Sorry sir we only serve coffee with or without milk.”
OK. I will have a cup of coffee without milk and one with milk please.
“Thank you Sir, what kind of milk would you like?”
“White I replied…”
Have a nice day.
Don’t give up your day job.

Wrong ! Black people are mostly brown and White people are mostly pink, are you proud to be pink ?
Delivering to a very tough gangland area of Albany NY when I first started driving trucks here, I was pulling a plastic storage tank from a flat bed trailer when a group of nasty boys who occupied the area of land reserved for construction came up to me and told me in no uncertain terms to “Git the hell outa here coz you’z white an it int a white area”
I was shaking but gave the best answer I could think of “White ? I thought I was pink”
A long silence then followed for what seemed like an eternity then a burst of laughter and the words “Hey, you’z ok man, where you from”
Got me out of there in one piece that day.
