Has anyone got any photos of MEIRS TRANSPORT, run by REG MEIRS.They were from Broad Lane , Bradmore, Wolverhampton and ran milk tankers doing collections for Mid-Counties dairies.
My grandad and great grandad both drove for them and would be well chuffed if anyone has any photos
JG
Funny old world is it not, Dennis Meirs ended up in Showell Lane Bushbury, grew “everso, everso big”, on the milk job, (Midland Counties, and Levedale Daries), and then became part of Wincanton.
Our family firm was sold into Meirs…then back in the 90s, I sold my Contract Hire business into Wincanton…small world is it not!!
On the window cill of Dennis Meirs office, (Crittal steel window frame), was a beautiful model of a 4x2 Milk Tanker, in their silver and blue livery. The farm we now own and work, well I used to come here as a small boy, when my Uncle was collecting churned milk for Levedale Daries, now my neighbours father, well his collections were done by Meirs!!! Small world eh!!
Cheerio for now.
Can anyone give me any information on a company called Oldbury Transfer?
I,ve made quite a few enquiries but have had no joy!
Regards Jack
anyone remember modern transport of wolverhampton, they had some wierd cabbed guys
Hi, thought I’d give this thread a shake!
Was up to visit my son a few weeks back, at Aldridge & he said there was a few old motors had moved in up the road just off the Northgate. we found a number to ring & a charming chap said he would come over in an hour & show us round. Turned out, it is the Birmingham Lorry Museum moved in after a bit of trouble with the Birmingham Council! Don’t know if it is a permanent move or not, but good to see they have somewhere to go. Spent an interesting hour or two (bit cold to stay longer) having a look round and chatting & will go back as they get sorted out & see the progress. Did manage to get a few pics so will try to get some on here now a again. A couple to be going on with, anyone any info on these?

Anyone remember Reynolds transport red roadtrains, daf 95 and bedford tm pulled out of servo steel stourbridge, any photos?
3 more I’ve been thinking about, all from Netherton, early to mid 80’s
K&D Haulage, had premises round the back of Corrbets car sales pitch on Cinder Bank. Fleet was mixed, white and red livery, they had a Scania 141, Volvo F88, F86 a new Roadtran that lasted about 3 weeks before being written off, couple of AEC rigids and at least one 6 wheel Ford D rigid with a V8 they bought off CMT. Also serviced Stourbridge Pavings F86 and Dodge Commando tippers.
Elwell and Brown steels in New Road, (where Marcegaglia is now, PJ Butler / PJB / Oldbury Garage move their steel incidently) had a Transconi artic and a beaut of a Sed Atki 400 8 wheel rigid. White and black livery. Also there was a Leyland Bison in orange and brown that had their name applied for a bit, and a red F86 rigid was a regular visitor.
Laker Transport in Round Street. Started with an N reg DAF rigid and Ford D series, then moved onto artics and had, an F88, a Berliet that was just parked in the yard up the side of the garage and the only one of these I ever saw, it was the ex demo tractor for Hino, black and silver iirc. Didn’t last long in Round Street, not sure if they continued from another depot or not.
Marcegaglia !!,i moved most of their machinery into the factory 90’s

Still is. There were 2 entrances, one in New Road which is still being used by Marcegaglia, the other was in Round Street, where I grew up. This was very tight. One wagon took the telegraph pole out once. Had the Crane Fruehauf logo off his mud flap for a souvenir.
