Hello.
What are biggest UK truck companies which do european/international transport?
When I type in hgv international driver on indeed.co.uk I can’t find many european driving jobs, it is strange for me - because I am Polish, and in Poland most of jobs are for european driving.

Without sounding racist or xenophobic, maybe you are better going to Poland and working for a Polish company then??
However, I don’t have LGV licence so it doesn’t matter wherever I am.
By the way, I do not see anything wrong when citizens in UK do not want drivers from foreign countries. Everybody has his own buisness. Truckers want to have high pay rates, employers want to have highest income. It’s not racism and it is not xenophobia, it is human thing. But what I do not get, why you react after one question like that? What’s wrong? That’s silly, being a lorry driver, drive across the world and being arrogant after question of somebody who is foreign and curious about things. When somebody will ask me on street in Poland about “why here are no terraced houses?” do I should answer him - GO TO UK IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, THERE YOU WILL HAVE TERRACED HOUSES.
Embarassing.
Filip22:

Because Filip, nowadays in the UK, if anyone dares mention the fact that someone is of a different Nationality, Race, Religion, ■■■■■■ persuasion, specific gender etc, they automatically open themselves up to all sorts of accusations of Racism, xenophobia, Sexism, Gender Bias and more. The Snowflakes (look it up) and Liberal Lefties (look that up as well) automatically jump on anything or anyone that they perceive does not fit in with their personal ideology and have no hesitation in levelling accusations at whom so ever they disagree with!
So nowadays people are starting to automatically prefix any statement with “Without sounding…” or “Im not racist / sexist / homophobic etc but…”. They shouldn’t have to and in many cases probably don’t even realise they are doing it!
Someone will probably be along soon from the Liberal Leftie Snowflake brigade to defend their position and accuse me of all sorts of “…ism” or of being some sort of “…ist”
I mentioned it, because answer maybe is very easy and question may sounds silly ( ) for lorry drivers. Perhaps most of european drivers are employed because they have connections / somebody has recommended them ( )- that type of driving is for very responsible and more experienced drivers. Or maybe companies do not have problems to find drivers, so that’s why there are no too many vacancies for job like that.
Cheers.
S@k haulage.

Not being silly but you said “When I type in hgv international driver on indeed.co.uk I can’t find many european driving jobs, it is strange for me - because I am Polish, and in Poland most of jobs are for european driving.”
So Im saying if you want European HGV work then maybe try a Polish company as you yourself have admitted that most jobs in Poland are for European drivng!!
Jeeees…roll on Brexit!

How about we all go to poland and drive your wages into the ground? Sound good to you?
The reason there aren’t many intentional jobs in the UK is because your countrymen and fellow Eastern Europeans swooped in a took all the work. Its no coincidence that the only British ones left tend to specialise, fridges, stages, removals etc because when it comes down to it euroliners are cheap and ten a penn, pulled by drivers paid peanuts delivering goods for companies who would murder their own granny if it meant a 10p reduction in the rate. People don’t like transport, it’s a necessary evil for them to be obtained at cheapest rate possible not giving a fig about quality. Against the likes of Wabberers we just can’t compete
And is sad, because we had one of the bigggest international transport scenes in Europe and beyond.
I find this amazing. The guy asked a question, and he’s being told to go back to Poland. Why do people keep blaming migrants for all the problems in the uk?
The problem of lack of money in the industry, is more to do with the fact that the unions were broken up in the early 80’s, therefore letting various agencies dictate pay scale, conditions. Etc.
All true I’m afraid mate.

Good man, at least you are honest!
I’m not sure if there is some trolling going on, but I think somebody has got the wrong end of the stick.
As far as I can see the OP wasn’t being told to go to Poland because he’s Polish, but because if you want a job driving round Europe, you’d find it easier in Poland, because they have by far the largest European haulage market.
I think the UK registered trucks only make about 12% of all truck going through UK ports theses days, it was something like 70 to 80% back in the hey day of UK International transport.

Lack of money in the UK domestic market might be due to lack of unions representation, but what destroyed the UK International haulage operations was the East European countries entering the EU, a decision that UK governments had great deal to do with, and I doubt it had very much to do with a philanthropic desire to improve the social conditions in those countries.
And Western European logistics companies weren’t slow to flag out their operations to take advantage of the massive difference in pay, which meant that it was no longer possible for Western European hauliers to operate for the rates being offered.
perhaps someone can answer this question,
why is it that Irish firms still do a lot of european work, but mainland british firms have mostly been forced out of it?

True enough for the V8 Scannies. Smaller engined truck on Eire plates? Probably not an Irish driver, but someone “from a country far away, of which…”
