wich depot pal?? i do agency out of salmon fields, royton! Its ok, hard work, expect LONG days! delivering to KFC, BK, Pizza hut, chain pubs, nando’s to name a few!
Make SURE you get a sack truck off them when you arrive, and make sure you give it back! unload the pallets, break them down and wheel the boxes into where they want them… frozen first! Then chilled/ambient!
you might get free food ETC…

Done a bit of shunting in Falkirk depot and a Trunk down to Royton for them. Spoke to a few guys who done the deliveries, all of them said it was hard going.

What was so bad?
You need to be fit to do this job. A lot of ex-squaddies are doing it already, perhaps because they’re already fit and doing a 15 hour shift running up and down stairwells with baskets of grub under your arm looks pretty cushy compared to getting shot at in Afghanistan or Iraq.
With this kind of job, there are actually FULL TIME JOBS available (not “contracted via agency”) that no one wants. The hourly rate for doing this even on Agency is rising already- right now. If you like hard work, and earning your crust - get in there and fill your boots.
Meanwhile, “night trunking” is growing in popularity. Once considered “dull and boring”, it’s now the cream work for the ageing driver population who wants an easy ride as they get ever closer to hanging up their keys for good…

Banbury? Their own drivers are on upwards of £30k, on maximum duty hours. Aligra are always advertising for drivers. Apparently you have to an unpaid induction too.
If thats the old Bookers/Holroyd Meek place i wouldnt touch them, walked out on them about 15 years ago when it first opened, ■■■■ job all down through London and very little support. Have done it once for them in Somerset where i live now. Said i would if i had a second man funnily enough he didnt turn up. 15 hours later job done absolutely knackered wouldnt do it again. Its all hump and dump with very little help. If your a keen fitness freak go for it otherwisee stay well away.
as mentioned before never let the agency make you feel guilty, its your decision at the end of the day as to whether you do the job or not. Dont let them use you make sure you use them!!

I think bidvest do the blue chip clients and are bulkier drops whereas 3663 do the smaller ■■■■■■ drops at schools and independent pubs and restaurants.
3663 is for FOOD on a numeric keypad.

I know they used too, got clobbered in London with artic parked in the end of a bus stop well out of the way to make delivery to pub over the road, some numpty stuck a ticket on the screen (red zone) I made some comment and little boy blue comes over and says whats up and then says he wouldnt have bothered as we were doing legitimate delivery handed ticket to office on return never heard no more about it. Mind you that was back in the nineties.
They’re advertising on Indeed website incase anyone’s interested. Strangely the ad says "no agencies yet I’ve had an email from an agency I’ve never heard of offering me work with them (more chance of finding a heterosexual male childrens’ tv presenter).
Brakes are also advertising, out of Bicester (near Fresh Direct) “no agencies” on their advert too. Is this the christmas party rush or is the shortage meaning drivers are choosing easier jobs over manual handling?
