These were the three old motors that survived into later years,OJM 480L was about 10 years old when we took it out of the fleet to run on a a very lucrative local job between warehouse and mill, the shot shows it newley painted and lettered ready to go again, the other shot shows it after it finnished it’s working life, parked up in the depot. The first shot of ONL 482M is of it at the Leyland museum after we had taken it out of service and re-furbed it,we used it periodically,on trades,to pull the recovery trailer. The shot of ONL 482M in among the scrap tyres is what the [zb] morons at WRM allowed it to deteriate into after I had left the Group, but one of my ex drivers told me that when it was finally sold/removed they just put a set of batteries on to it and it was “on the button” The ERF A Series NEC299P wasjust setting off out of the depot on it’s last trip to London,we sure got the last ounce of work out of our motors at Bewick Transport, Cheers Dennis.

Unfortunately “JAKEY” I’ve been inundated with e.mails and PM’s urging me to stick religeously to posting the photos of the Bewick tractors in strict order to their age,and to refrain from being “swayed” by wet behind the ears youngsters like yourself who are only interested in the later, more modern,Swedish entrants to the fleet. Now maybe we should have a straw poll to see who on the thread prefers shots of the iconic British built motors of yesteryear rather than the Swedish metal.Obviously I will run out of of the Classic British shots eventually and will be forced to start posting the foreign rubbish! Cheers Dennis.
Can you post 1 of your 240 Gardner Big Js please Dennis

You’ll need to wear your 3D glasses “ramone” but if you look carefully you will make out a side view of the Big J 8LXB which is parked in the back of the garage. Cheers Dennis.

Well considering that many of us on the site could give you between 20 and 30 years plus you are still a mere lad “Jakey” but don’t “take a powder” it’s only a bit of “craic” But lets just look at the facts,40 years ago I was running a dozen or so Atky Borderers and what were you doing ? I would hazzard a guess that you may have been running around the school playground pulling a wooden motor along on a bit of string with one hand and a lump of ginger cake in the other Cheers Bewick.

Hiya “ramone”,we did run a couple of tippers in the early/mid 70’s mainly on Pig iron,Coal, frag scrap and some animal feed but they didn’t mix well with our flat traffic so I eventually sold the trailers which were fleet nos. 35 & 36 IIRC one was a Peak chassis and the other was a Crane/F and both had Millmoor bodies and Briggs and Stratton 16 hp petrol donkey engines. The Atki parked further back was the first unit (MEC 98K) we sent down to run from Gravesend and Len Valsler was the first driver,he must have been up at Milnthorpe when I took this shot.Cheers Dennis.
