Beware of "driving tests available" claim

As if there isn’t enough for everyone to think about, I have evidence of driving tests being advertised by a school - even giving the dates, times and venue. This is simply not possible.

These are the rules:

There are two ways in which a test can currently take place.

  1. Delegated examiner. Traditionally used by bus companies, where the examiner is trained by DVSA but employed by the operator. Commercial trainers cannot have this facility available to the public.

  2. Critical worker tests. There is a list of who is eligible on the gov.uk website. A school cannot physically have a “stock” of these tests. They are applied for by the candidate and a date given purely on merit.

So, unfortunately, the lack of professionalism in the training industry has reared it’s very ugly head. As forum sponsor, I thought it was best to warn folks of what is happening.

Just to be clear, at some point trainers will have driving tests available “in stock”. But, trust me, I’ll make it very clear on the forum when this is the case. In the meantime, buyer beware!

Take care all, Pete
