I have done the Somport route to get to a cake/biscuit factory in Huesca Spain.
The route in France before the border was very scenic.Green valleys through twisty roads. It was similar to Switzerland or Austria.
I have loaded cakes in Huesca, half loaded in Seville & ‘filled out’ Huesca with ‘magdalena’ sponge cakes, the point I was going to make is if you loaded the same sponge cakes, did you notice the sell by date on them? The ones I loaded had about a 9 month away sell by date!!!
Ross.
The cake factory staff give drivers a box or two of their products.

Indeed, I skoffed a couple of dozen on the way home, that’s how I came to spot the sell by date!!!
When loading shoes or clothing in Portugal, the factory boss would give drivers a free sample and a tour of his factory.
You could be loading for two days as it was being made while you waited.
The out of date cakes is quite funny.

You misunderstood Toby, I was referring to a monstrously long shelf life, who’d have thought a sponge cake could stay eatable (an arguable statement!! ) for almost a year.
