Best Route please - to deepest, darkest suffolk

From Derby - off to the Beranard Mathews place at Holton tomorrow - not used to going eastwards! - just oop norf, or darn sarf

Had a quick scan, and cant see much difference between M1 A14 - or A52 A47 (both seem a bit naff towards the end) - just wondered if there are any road works that would make a big difference

M1 A14 A11 A47 A146 A145 B1124 or M1 A14 A12 B1123 If you are in a hurry.

If you prefer scenic route then A52 A17 A47 A146 A145 B1124.

Choice is yours but it gets worse the further east you come. I go to Derby from North Walsham and it is SC for the first 120 miles.

Well there are road works on the A14 between Copdock and Ipswich, but maybe still a quicker route.

Who do you work for Waddy? I know what you mean about getting out of North Walsham, not a nice route out either have to get round Coltishall and Norwich or Roughton and Felbrigg.

Oh not one of the North Walsham hauliers then. I used to work for Buxtons.

How about coming off the a14 at Bury St Edmunds British Sugar junction onto a143 towards Gt Yarmouth, after Harleston bypass, turn onto the b1062 at Homersfield to the a144 at Bungay head south to Halesworth, at mini roundabout turn onto Sparrowhawk Way about half mile along, beware of scamvans as you cross Norfolk/suffolk borders they can be close together.

What he said, easily the best route, you can not go through Bungay due to weight limit so you have to take the B1062 to the back of Bungay.

Eggsactlly what i did (and was what satnav wanted me to do) - nice run, shame about the truck  - R reg merc rigid, my bones have just about stopped vibrating

As an aside - I assume, as it was old (can’t remember how old ‘R’ reg is), it did not need to have seatbelts fitted?? Could i have refused to take it?? apparantly the truck does the same run most days. Didn’t bother me, just curious
