Hi all,my mate is following me down in convoy tomorrow nite,and we are nighting out,to tip at Bellshill Morrisons on the saturday morning. I was wondering if any of you good folk can recommend a good place to park up for the night,thats safe,and not far from some nightlife. ie some decent pubs,chippies etc,
Failing that,what is the best truckstop not too far from where we are tipping. I guess this is one for all you trampers,who find all the best places to go to,either through experience or recommendation. It’s my mates first nite out,and he seems excited,and so it’s down to me to lead the way,although I would be grateful for directions to the Bellshill Morrisons site,as I’m not one of the Sat-nav crew!! Along the 66 then up M6 onto M/A74 to junction 5 take a right at bottom of slip road, middle lane will do up A725.
Take the third slip road and go left at roundabout and Morrisons entrance is first right but it cant be missed but go past it and take next right and you can park right in front of Morrisons.
Sometimes busy though depending on time you arrive but theres loads of places to park in there.
A lengthy walk to boozers though but oxygen wont be required.
If you go to far the road turns into single carriageway dont panic theres a roundabout at top of hill for a turn.
3 and a half hours should be enough to get you there.
Get in early though as I waited 3 hours in the queue one Saturday and an hour for my lines after the half our it took to tip me, never been back.
theres a truckstop just off J13 off the M74, its the turning for Abington services, its called Red Moss, its got secure parking, food, showers, etc. Its £7.50 to park. its about 5 mins off the M74 and 30 mins from Belshill!!
Jnc 10 ( N. bound ) Jnc 9 ( S. bound ) M74 … Star Truckstop Lesmahagow. Secure parking / good showers / food ok / bar on site. 15 - 20 mins from Bellshill in the morning. Look in parking forum, i’m sure it will be listed. Damm sight better than Hamilton Services !
DONT PARK AT HAMILTON!! They charge £20!! I parked there one night at midnight and they still charged me!! Lesmahagow or Redmoss are much better. The RDC is a strange set up, depends how many pallets you have on, i went with 14 and they took me to the front of the queue and tipped me there and then. The paperwork took 1.5 hrs
ah morrisons bellshill - 3 hours tae get your paperwork back for one full pallet magic - take somethig to read or watch the place is murder - ps they wont let you in 1 hour before or 1 hour after your booking in time - id just park in the righead near tnt - there is a chippy and shops 10minutes walk away on old edinburgh road.
Ah yes … Lorne sausage … mmmmmmm. Only prob. i find at Lesmahagow … weak tea. They put the tea bag in those little tea pots, but … doesn’t matter how long you leave it to “brew” … still comes out “weak” ?
loads of trucks are parked overnight on that industrial estate and you wont have to go far for a pub and chippy. i dont know about bellshill itself but coatbridge isnt that far away and there are takeaways and pubs on the main road that runs past righead ind est (A725) and onto coatbridge.
Probably to late now but at the other side of the main road there is the motherwell food park.
I used to park aty the top end of there and walk into Bellshill, there is a good friendly pub just as you walk into Bellshill with music on a Friday night and not far to walk to any number of take aways
